From the Prez

Welcome back to school everyone!

This week, our theme is living and thriving after leaving Carnegie, which so many of our alumni have done. Mark your calendars for the next general PTO meeting this Thursday, Jan. 5, at 6:30 p.m.

For the presentation, we will have a student panel of CVHS alumni presently attending college. They will be available to answer your questions. This tends to be a lively and popular event. Please join us.

Keep Calm and Rhino On!

Feeding time
Food sales starting this week
For this week since there wasn't school on Tuesday, the PTO will sell Chick-fil-A on Thursday. Friday will be pizza, as usual.

An important notice/reminder: food sales prices going up for 2017: $4/sandwich and $2/pizza slice.  This is due partly to a need to not lose money and partly to simplify change-making for our volunteers.

Stay tuned for next week. The PTO has reviewed the results of a survey sent to students and is in process of choosing a new option for Thursdays.

You are the best!

Thanks to everyone who donated holiday gift cards, and to H.E.B Montrose for their donation toward the pies for the CVHS Staff & Teacher Appreciation.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated!

Party with the PTO
Rhino Dinner and Wine Party coming up

Supporting CVHS is one of the most fun things to do each and every year, and events like these are among the reasons why. Please join us on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 3714 Aberdeen Way (the Levine household) for fun, lots of food and beverages of your choice. Food will include vegetarian options.

You do not have to be a CVHS parent to attend but must be over 21. Cost is $65/person. Click here to buy tickets.

For more information, e-mail Mark Levine at mlevine@wkpz.com.

When reviewing which charities need your support most, we'd like you to consider a cause very close to your home and your heart, your schools' PTO.
Every $$ donated to CVHS PTO is used to help the students and their families, the teachers and the school

The vast majority of our PTO funding comes through generous contributions to the Friends & Family Campaign. Without this money, we cannot complete all our good work. We have not reached our goals for the year, and so we ask that parents consider this worthy, charitable (tax deductible) gift.

We want all parents to have complete knowledge of what we do with the money we collect.  Most of our spending goes to these terrific causes:
  • Teacher Appreciation, Development and Support: $17,000
  • Campus Beautification and Maintenance $3,000
  • Events, Honoraria and School Clubs $6,000
  • Scholarships $2,500
We hope to collect more than our budgetary needs so that we can make the Pavilion (pictured above) a reality. The Pavilion will provide all students a wonderful place for lunch, gathering, and educational activities. We continue to raise money towards our target of an additional $25,000 to complete the $100,000 funding needed for the Pavilion. The PTO has raised the remaining funds through past gifts to the Friends & Family Campaign.

Donations may be made online, by clicking here, or by check made out to "CVHS PTO". Our giving levels are listed online, but the PTO welcomes any donations of any amount!

Please contact Mark J. Levine, First Vice President - Fund Raising at mlevine@wkpz.com or me, Sarah Bittner, President, at president@cvhspto.org if you have any questions.
