More food news
Thanks everyone for your suggestions for Thursday PTO sales and for your patience through the changes. We have had several suggestions for alternate Vietnamese, but have not yet found a favorable delivery option. We are still investigating those possibilities and still taking suggestions. We are also investigating Indian menu options that make the food from Cowboys and Indians more filling. We did have reviews that their sandwiches were tasty. So we are tweaking the menu tomorrow with sides.
The remaining PTO lunches this semester will include sandwiches from Cowboys and Indians aka Juan Mon's International Sandwiches, which will include vegetarian options, for $4. After the holiday break, Chick-fil-A sandwiches will be $4, while pizza will go for $2, reflecting increases in PTO food sales costs.
Good luck to everyone studying for finals!

We are collecting donations of money, gift cards, canned goods and nonperishable items for CVHS families in need. Donations can be turned in to Ms. Alvarenga in the attendance office. All donations will be distributed prior to Winter break.

One more tour!
As expected, it was standing room only for last week's magnet tour. This week's tour on Thursday, Dec. 8, will be the last one before HISD's magnet application deadline on Friiay, Dec. 9. It is also expected to be very full. Ms. Moumni has done a wonderful job of recruiting articulate and enthusiastic student volunteers to lead ten magnet tour groups each week. She has expressed her appreciation for all parent volunteers who have helped showcase Carnegie to prospective students and their parents via magnet tours this semester. If you haven't volunteered yet, there's still one slot available for this week's tour. There's no need to worry about having all the answers if you volunteer. After the tour, administration and staff members will be available to answer any questions tour attendees might have that are out of the student tour guide's or parent volunteer's realm of expertise. As chair of the Magnet Recruiting Committee, I'd also like to express my gratitude to all the parents who stepped up and filled the 90 magnet tour volunteer slots, many of whom signed up for several weeks!!! Multiple visiting parents commented on how impressive it was to see such a high level of parent participation for a high school the size of Carnegie. When reviewing which charities need your support most, we'd like you to consider a cause very close to your home and your heart, your schools' PTO.
Every $$ donated to CVHS PTO is used to help the students and their families, the teachers and the school.
The vast majority of our PTO funding comes through generous contributions to the Friends & Family Campaign. Without this money, we cannot complete all our good work. We have not reached our goals for the year, and so we ask that parents consider this worthy, charitable (tax deductible) gift.
We want all parents to have complete knowledge of what we do with the money we collect. Most of our spending goes to these terrific causes: - Teacher Appreciation, Development and Support: $17,000
- Campus Beautification and Maintenance $3,000
- Events, Honoraria and School Clubs $6,000
- Scholarships $2,500
We hope to collect more than our budgetary needs so that we can make the Pavilion (pictured above) a reality. The Pavilion will provide all students a wonderful place for lunch, gathering, and educational activities. We continue to raise money towards our target of an additional $25,000 to complete the $100,000 funding needed for the Pavilion. The PTO has raised the remaining funds through past gifts to the Friends & Family Campaign.
Donations may be made online, by clicking here, or by check made out to "CVHS PTO". Our giving levels are listed online, but the PTO welcomes any donations of any amount!
