Mark your calendars!

Please mark your calendars for the next PTO general meeting, Oct. 20, 6:30 p.m. in the cafetorium.  Our invited speaker is Ms. Angelina Hudson-Brown of NAMI Houston who will present on Managing Stress.  Our general meeting agenda before the speaker will include an informational update on Recapture ("Robinhood") school funding.

Many thanks to the families who confirmed their entries in the Directory.  The printed Directory will be sent to press, so stay tuned for the announcement of availability.

A super thanks also to our many donors who have brought our total for Friends and Family to $15,438 net as of Oct. 4.  This is a great start.  We are almost halfway to our goal!  Please take a moment to check your listing below and let us know if you have corrections for the Directory publication.

Keep Calm and Rhino On!

Corporate Fundraising Volunteers

We are seeking volunteers for the Corporate Fundraising Campaign.

The CVHS PTO has launched its first ever corporate fundraising campaign. We need assistance from persons who have insight into prospective corporate donors or who are simply willing to help build a database of potential corporate donors.  Please reach out to Mark Levine at mlevine@wkpz.com if you would be willing to help.

Thanks!

Still Magnet Tour Help Needed

To those parents who have already signed up to help with Magnet Tours, "Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!" Over 50% of 90 volunteer slots have been filled so far! Magnet tours open up the world of Carnegie and introduce our wonderful Rhino family to potential students and their parents. While Carnegie student tour guides do the heavy lifting during the tours, parent volunteers tag along to add that important parent perspective when needed. Magnet Coordinator, Ms. Moumni, has requested 10 parent volunteers for each weekly tour. Tours start Thursday, Oct. 6, and continue each week through Thursday, Dec. 8. (Note: There are no tours Nov. 24 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.)

The following number of slots remain open for the month of October:
  • Week of Oct. 6 - 3
  • Week of Oct. 13 - 3
  • Week of Oct. 20 - 5
  • Week of Oct. 27 - 3
Busy in October? That's okay. Slots are still available in November and December, too! You can sign up for as few (1) or as many dates (9) as your schedule allows. If you would like to sign up to volunteer or for more information, click here to sign up or for more information.

Special Note to Freshman parents - Don't be shy! Your recent experience with the high school magnet application process will make you a welcome addition to our parent volunteer corps! Don't worry about having all the answers. As a parent volunteer, you only need be direct inquiries to the appropriate staff member who will be available after the tour to answer questions.
Rhino directory

The best way to be in the "know" is to provide your information in the PTO membership and student directory site. Don't miss out on having your family included!

New families, families who've never signed-up before or returning families with only a new student enrolled this year - go to the following URL: https://www.myschoolanywhere.com/new-family.a5w?fam=CarnegieVanguardHighSchool6902

Families who have a returning student and who had their information listed last year, you should have received a confirmation email already. You can add an additional student when you confirm. If you have any questions, please contact Susan Moreno at directory@cvhspto.org or 713-290-1568

Friends and Family Campaign
