Carnegie makes the Top 10 (again)

U.S. News and World Report, in their annual rankings of the nation's best high schools, has named  Carnegie as the 10th best school in the country for the second year running.

The U.S. News & World Report rankings are designed to identify great high schools that serve all students - no matter their socioeconomic status, and graduation rates were also included as a factor in the rankings for the first time.

Carnegie also was named No. 4 on USNWR's Best Magnet School list, was the third highest-ranked school in Texas, and the best in Houston. HISD placed four schools in the Top 100, the only Houston area school district to do so. Our friends at DeBakey High School for the Health Professions also scored well, finishing at 29th on the overall list, while Eastwood Academy was 50th and Challenge Early College 78th.

Congratulations to the entire Rhino community, but most especially our students, as well as the faculty, staff and Mr. Moss for making Carnegie into what it is, the best high school in Houston!

Rhinos helping others

Thank you to all of our famlies who donated travel size toiletries and hotel shampoos after Winter break! Ms. Schmidt was able to drop off these items at the Women's Shelter and Catholic Charities, and they were very appreciative.

Ms. Schmidt will continue to collect these items on an on-going basis, so please keep her in mind as you accumulate hotel toiletries on your travels!
PTO Corporate Giving Campaign

The PTO is establishing a committee to develop and implement a strategy for Carnegie's future through a corporate giving campaign.

We invite anyone interested in participating to contact Mark Levine, PTO VP of Fundraising, at mlevine@wkpz.com

Friends and Family Campaign Donors

THANK YOU TO OUR GENEROUS DONORS

We'd like to take a moment to thank so many members of our community for their support of our Friends and Family Campaign.    This years campaign is raising money for a covered outdoor pavilion in the CVHS courtyard.  This will be a beautiful and functional addition to our existing amphitheater, and will allow us to use the space in more ways.

This effort is spearheaded by CVHS parents Kevin McCarthy and Brent Nyquist, and we are grateful to them for the generous donation of their time and talents.

Our Friends and Family Campaign goal for the 2015-2016 school year is $40,000.    Together we have raised nearly $27,000 to date.   Please consider a tax-deductible donation to the CVHS PTO.
