Textbooks! We gotcher textbooks here! And laptops too!

The school year is almost here, and the campus is drowning in textbooks and laptops. In order to allow everyone already at work to surface, they've got a special offer: Textbooks for free and laptops for $25.

Not that the school is suddenly in the book and laptop sales business. The staff just wants to make sure that all students get to the first day of school (19 days and counting...) with all of their textbooks and laptops distributed to them. Here's the schedule:

Sophomores: Wednesday, Aug. 12, 8-11:45 a.m.
Juniors: Thursday, Aug. 13, 8-11:45 a.m.
Seniors: Friday, Aug. 14, 8-11:45 a.m.
Freshmen: Wednesday, Aug. 19, 8-11:45 a.m.

PowerUP Laptops will be distributed with textbooks. You must have $25 in cash along with the completed and parent-signed form, which can be downloaded on the Carnegie New Building Facebook page here.

Parents may come to pick up books, laptops and locker assignments if the student can't make it for some reason.

Please, please, please only show up on the date assigned. The staff is only set up to distribute books and laptops on the days assigned to the specific grade levels.

If for some reason you simply cannot make these dates, don't worry as the students can do all of this during the first week of school. Not exactly Option A, as the sooner they get the books and computers, the better, but doable.

Deadlines approaching

And, just as a reminder, summer assignments and reading still need to be finished by the first day of school.

Check out the summer assignment and reading lists at the website here.

Help for Ms. Sunshine

Substitute teacher extraordinaire Judy "Ms. Sunshine" Wells learned recently that she is in need of a liver transplant. She has been diagnosed with genetic autoimmune liver hepatitis, which could potentially lead to HCC (hepatocellular carcinoma), the most common type of liver cancer. Ms. Judy has, in the words of Ms. Ellis, "been our constant companion and cheerleader since the Beginning of Time," and she is in need of some help.

Ms. Judy has started a gofundme page to help with expenses related to medications. If you wish to help, go to gofundme.com/g87q8yhg8s and you can follow the prompts.

We love you Ms. Sunshine!
