The Foster-Powell Neighborhood Association's effort to create 4 temporary art installations in vacant or under-utilized windows along SE Foster Rd isn't really about creating art at all, it's about building community - art is just the vehicle. The art installations will no doubt be beautiful. But what's really important is the community engagement and empowerment that is generated as a result.

Katy Asher joins SE Uplift as the new Neighborhood Outreach Coordinator. In this role, Katy will be organizing SE Uplift's workshops and events, assisting our neighborhood associations with their annual clean-ups, and providing direct support as a liaison to six neighborhoods. Katy has an extensive background in community organizing and neighborhood outreach. She is an Arbor Lodge Neighborhood Association board member and former staff member at Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods.
