PROJECT INSPIRATION OF THE MONTH
Neighborhood Small Grants

The Strathcona Business Improvement Association installed 20 original and artistic bike racks reflecting the local character and flare of the area. The designs for the bike racks were developed with neighbors, artists, and bike commuters at community events. The project engaged new participants with the business association, promoted biking, and improved livability using a mixture of fun and practicality.

November Edition

Cities can be noisy. Very noisy. One noise that I frequently hear complaints about is the sound of train horns. We live in a city with a significant amount of freight train activity and for those of us who live close to rail lines we get a friendly reminder of this each time a horn is blasted.  People often ask me why do the trains make so much noise and what can be done to silence them.

As the Mt. Tabor Neighborhood Association treasurer for over ten years, Bing Wong has provided his fellow board members with the peace of mind that can only come from knowing your organization's finances are in order. But this all-star volunteer is way more than just a numbers cruncher - he is also a level headed, bird watching, passionate civic engager.
