With demolition come varying concerns: loss of affordable housing, impacts on neighborhood character, density changes, potential health and environment impacts, and sustainability. One of the challenges people often run up against when trying to find solutions to address these concerns, is which government agency regulates which activity.

Whether we live in an apartment, house, duplex, or ADU, we all share space with amazing people that we call our neighbors. But when was the last time we got together with them simply to socialize and celebrate? If it's been awhile, then we have a neighboring assignment for you. Organize a neighborhood block party!

Let's be honest, interactions with neighbors can be awkward, uncomfortable and downright embarrassing - like the time you "adopted" your neighbors cat thinking it was a stray. They can also be harrowing, full of adventure and mind-boggling. SEEDS OF SE UPLIFT VOLUNTEER
Brooklyn's Wendy Miller
 
A passionate advocate for her neighborhood and incredibly knowledgeable, Wendy Miller is not afraid to work with diverse opinions and hot-button issues. As a board member to Brooklyn Action Corps she serves as the SE Uplift Representative, coordinates the annual neighborhood clean-up, and sits on the committee looking at development of Trimet-owned properties within the neighborhood.

JULY BOARD MEETING

At this month's SE Uplift Board meeting we will review the budget for FY 14-15, explore the possibility of SE Uplift developing a process for prioritizing transportation needs within the coalition, discuss hosting an emissions symposium, elect new officers to the board, and more! SE Uplift board meetings are open to the public and interested community members are welcome to attend.
