Neighborhood Spring Cleanups!

Now is the time for a truly rewarding spring cleaning! Thirteen Cleanups across our Southeast Uplift Coalition are scheduled for April and May. For dates and locations, please visit www.southeastuplift.org/cleanups. Do you need help finding a cleanup in your neighborhood? Contact Ashe Urban ashe@southeastuplift.org or call her at 503-232-0010 x.313.

Neighborhood Associations use their Cleanups to raise money for a variety of community projects - and you can contribute to those efforts by dropping off any and all unwanted bulky waste and hard to recycle items. Costs vary depending on neighborhood. All cleanup fees are less than fees associated with taking a load directly to the landfill. No hazardous materials will be accepted. Please reference your neighborhood website for materials accepted.

Support City Funding for Neighborhoods!

Discussions are well underway for the City of Portland 2013-2014 Budget. In tough financial times funding for SE Uplift is facing budget cuts of 10% that will result in the loss of one SE Uplift staff person. In addition to that 10% funding loss, the community will most likely also lose all remaining neighborhood small grant funds.

Community members are invited to attend the Office of Neighborhood Involvement (ONI) budget work session, budget forum or hearing to show support and to have their voices heard. Opportunities to participate include:

ONI City Council Budget Work Session

Friday, April 5th, 1:15-1:45 PM, City Hall, Council Chambers, 1221 SW 4th Avenue

No public testimony but attendance is important!

City of Portland Community Budget Forum

Thursday, April 11th, 6:30-8:30 PM, Montgomery Park, 2701 NW Vaughn Street

Public testimony welcomed.

Public testimony on the Mayor's proposed budget can be given on May 16th. See details and other resources at the Community Budget Forums page.
