Ethics in Mediating Financial Elder Abuse         
 

In this dynamic workshop, John will review the basic law of financial elder abuse and the applicable ethical codes for mediators.   

 

Participants will learn creative approaches to maintain the autonomy of the parties in the face of functional and cognitive impairment and power imbalances.

 

John will lead a discussion on restorative justice principles and strategies for working with the multiple parties involved, preserving and healing relationships and overcoming impasse. We'll also consider ethical, settlement and confidentiality issues particular to this specialized field.

Elder Mediator John O'Grady trains professionals to grow their practices with the skills and strategies specific to guiding people to navigate the epic family conflicts about aging and inheritance before they begin.

Since 1989, John has successfully mediated hundreds of inheritance, co-ownership, and business disputes.  John frequently offers elder care and inheritance negotiation and conflict resolution training for professionals.

MCLE:  This course is approved by the State Bar of California for 2 MCLE credits (provider #9323). $10 processing fee required.

MFT & LCSW:  This course meets the qualifications for 2 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs and LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (provider #4616).  $10 processing fee required.
