What's the status of Emergency Contraception?

Last week Judge Edward Korman approved a plan to make emergency contraception available over the counter without age restrictions.

The only emergency contraception made available over the counter will be Plan B One-Step, but organizations such as the National Women's Health Organization are calling for the Obama administration to make the two-pill version as well as generic versions available without age restrictions also.

THE LATEST ON THE NATIONAL 20 WEEK BAN

On Tuesday, June 18th the U.S. House of Representatives, with Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) sponsoring the bill, passed the "Pain Capable  Unborn Child Protection Act," a bill banning all abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

The ban directly challenges Roe v. Wade and provides no exceptions for fetal anomalies or the health of the woman.

The bill also states that women must report a sexual assault to authorities to receive an abortion for a pregnancy resulting from rape.

Walk In My Shoes, Hear My Voice Music Video!
WE NEED YOU: Saturday, July 20th

Have you ever wanted to be in a music video? Have you wondered what went on behind the scenes of commercials, music videos, and movies? Or wanted to be a part of the filming process in general?

Well FWHC is making our very own music video on July 20th from 7:30am-4pm at Old Fourth Ward Park and now is your chance! We are calling all volunteers to come and be a part of the process as we film a video that promotes reproductive justice and reproductive choice. You can be a featured dancer, or extra--either way we need more folks! Dance practice will be held on volunteer day: Saturday, July 13th from 1-4pm at FWHC! RSVP here!

Filming this music video is serious business and hard work, though! We need volunteers to be there throughout the day as they work to film this video from multiple angles, lenses, and shots. (Maybe now we know why those actors and models are paid so much!) While this is a long day, we will provide refreshments; there will be multiple breaks, loads of fun, and an exciting finished product! Plus, a free t-shirt!

RSVP today! or email [email protected] for more information!
