Saturday, February 28: Riviera Beach CDC HOSTS BREAKFAST, WALK FEATURING MARTIN LUTHER KING III

Martin Luther King III, the eldest son of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., will headline a series of special events on Feb. 28 in Riviera Beach all designed to celebrate and promote community health. Hosted by the Riviera Beach Community Development Corporation (RBCDC), the festivities will kick off at 8:30 a.m. with an inspirational breakfast at the Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island. Following the ticketed event, all are invited to join Mr. King as he walks down the street named after his father, which will soon be enhanced by a linear park and designated as a health trail. The walk will end at the new one-acre Riviera Beach Heights Community Garden, where Mr. King will dedicate the site and launch the volunteer activities to plant the first seedlings.
Riviera Beach Heights is the city's oldest neighborhood. In 2012, the RBCDC launched a $1.1 million neighborhood beautification program to revitalize vacant and underutilized properties. The Community Garden marks the completion of the first phase, and future improvements include the completion of the Linear Park between 6th St. and 8th St. and new sidewalks.
