This morning over two dozen principals and teachers gathered at the South Wisconsin District office and spent time learning about and being trained in the National Lutheran Schools Accreditation (NLSA) process. As you most likely know, the NLSA process involves indicators of success within each of the standards. These indicators are based on a 1-4 scale, with scores of "1" (not evident), "2" (emerging), "3" (operational), and "4" (highly functional). Since this process was implemented a few years ago, schools have struggled to assign themselves with scores of less than "4." You see, a "4" is nearly unattainable. It indicates that the school is doing something that is best practice. As educators, we strive for the best. We want the top ra ting. And yet, within this NLSA process, it isn't possible to get a rating of "4" in all areas.
Imagine if God looked at us with ratings like that. We wouldn't stand a chance! Even the "best" of us is by nature sinful and unclean. Thank God that He sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins. Without that, we would be damned to eternal life. It is by grace that we have been saved, through faith (Ephesians 2:8). We cannot achieve perfection. We have been made perfect in Christ (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Love and Logic has been around for over 30 years and has been widely accepted in the educational field. The beauty of this program is that delivery and technique is driven by the person using it. Hence it becomes personal.
Two Rules of Love and Logic
- Adults set limits without anger, lectures, threats or repeated warnings.
- When children cause problems, adults hand these problems back in loving ways.
Some of the areas we will cover will include:
- Neutralizing student arguing
- Consequences--- guidelines for giving them
- Setting limits
- Enforceable statements
- Using choices to prevent power struggles
- Quick and easy preventative interventions
- Guiding children to solve their own problems.
Lots to cover, laughter will occur and you can leave with some well tested ideas for having a great school year.
Please register by September 14.
