The Lord replied, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest."
Exodus 33:14
The Lord commanded Moses to leave Sinai for a land of milk and honey. Moses was understandably concerned though, because the Lord also said that "But I will not go with you, because you are a stiff-necked people and I might destroy you on the way." Moses was, of course, confused. In Exodus 33:12-13, Moses seeks a little clarification: "See, you say to me, 'Bring up this people,' but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, 'I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.' Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your ways, that I may know you in order to find favor in your sight. Consider too that this nation is your people." I can just picture Moses, standing somewhat dumbfounded. Didn't you tell me to take this journey? Didn't you say that I had found favor in your sight? What do you mean no one is coming with us, and what's all this talk about destroying us on our way?
The reassurance of the Lord to Moses that His presence would go with him and that he would give him rest is a promise that we can take with us as we enter the summer months. The Lord will be with us - during our planning, during our hiring, during convention, during the National Youth Gathering, during whatever travels we might have planned. The Lord also reassures Moses, as He reassures us, that He will give us rest. Yes, certainly he will give us time to rest this summer. But he will also give us eternal rest with Him, in His presence. May God grant you rejuvenation and rest this summer!
Chris

The Changing Legal Landscape for LCMS Schools
|
As the legal landscape continues to change for faith-based institutions, LCMS school officials are wondering how they'll faithfully navigate the future. Recent legal issues with LCMS and other Christian schools have focused on accepting state and federal dollars and the implications of doing so. Please join us for Faith & Family, June 7 and 8 at 10 a.m. Central on Worldwide KFUO, as we take up the key issues facing our Lutheran schools today with guest Mr. Gregory S. Baylor from the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF).
Since joining ADF in 2009, he has worked diligently to protect the First Amendment freedoms of students, faculty and staff at public colleges and universities. As director of ADF's Religious Schools Team, Baylor litigates cases to protect the rights of Christian educational institutions across the nation. He also serves as religious liberty consultant to the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.

Church Worker Update (CWU) System
|
The time is here. All Rostered church workers (Ordained and Commissioned) have been notified of the changes to the Church Worker Update (CWU) system. An email is in the process of going out to all Rostered workers who we have email addresses for and a hard-copy mailing is going out to those who we do not have an email for or whom have requested a paper form of the yearly update. Thus, all workers will be notified shortly that it is time to update their information in the new CWU system.
Letter and Email sent to all Commissioned Ministers

LCEF Loans
|
Summer tends to be a down time in congregational tithes and other giving. Click the link below to learn more about LCEF's Line of Credit or SMART Loans for schools.
Did you know that LCEF congregational loans also serve our sister congregations for whom can't qualify for a loan? Not only this, but LCEF loan rates are more than competitive with other lending entities. LCEF is all about Ministry. The proceeds from LCEF loans come back to the District and serve to support Ministry around the world.
