"In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples;
the nations will rally to him, and his resting place will be glorious."
Isaiah 11:10
Prior to Thanksgiving, I wrote about how difficult it is to be content and thankful for what we have. As we approach Christmas, it is also evident that we have a difficult time waiting for what we expect. Thankfully, my son is only 2 years old, so he doesn't understand anything about Christmas presents yet. Many of us, not just kids, get impatient as the Christmas holiday nears. For some, we can't wait for the gifts. For others, we can't wait for the break. And for many more, it's all of the above! This is a great lesson for each of us in patience. After all, the season of Advent is about anticipation and hope. In this season, we remember the anticipation of the birth of Savior and also we anticipate our Savior coming again. We expect that Jesus will come again and in recent days, I find that I have been praying "Come quickly, Lord Jesus" more often. Mass shootings, disregard for human life, deaths of students much too young, and more leave me impatient for the coming of Jesus. For when He comes again, it will be to rescue us from this fallen world. What joy that will bring to those who believe in Him! While we wait, though, God calls us to be faithful. My prayer for each of you this Advent season is that your faith might be renewed daily as you anticipate the Hope that is to come.
