"The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace." Psalm 29:11
Over the next two weeks, many of our schools will be coming to the close of the first quarter of the 2015-2016 school year. 25% of the year has already come and gone. How are you feeling physically? Mentally? Spiritually? As veteran teachers and principals, we know that the school year has its ebbs and flows. Some times of the year are less stressful and at other times of the year hiding inside a cave doesn't sound like a bad idea (think Christmas program planning or National Lutheran Schools Week). As veteran teachers and principals, we have been through these ups and downs, and for the most part can anticipate them. But our first year teachers are experiencing all of these things for the first time. The link above is an article from NPR that probably sums up how some of young teachers are feeling right now. I would encourage you to check in on all your teachers, but especially your first year teachers, to see how they are holding up physically, mentally, and spiritually. As always, if I can be of any help, please let me know.

Kohl Scholarships |

WCRIS is happy to once again administer the Herb Kohl Education Foundation scholarships this year on behalf of our members and the students they serve. This year each award has been increased to $3,000! These awards are a tremendous opportunity for your schools to recognize and honor the achievements of your students and teachers. The deadlines are fast approaching and it is very important that we make these opportunities available to our teachers and students.
Student Excellence Award
14 students from religious and independent schools will be selected out of 100 statewide, and awarded a $3,000 scholarship for post-secondary education.
Excellence Scholarship application forms will be provided to schools in September. Schools should make applications available to all interested students. Completed applications must be received by the District office no later than November 25, 2015.
PLEASE NOTE: All Excellence Scholarship and Fellowship applications must be typed. For your convenience, both applications are provided in a format that is compatible with Microsoft Word.
