thanksgivingThanks "Giving" Mission
Last year, many individuals and congregations in the South Wisconsin District provided funds for Thanksgiving meals to families living in the central city of Milwaukee. The meal consists of a turkey and all the fixings for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. The goal every year is to fulfill the requests for the Thanksgiving baskets we receive from central city Lutheran pantries in Milwaukee, Last year, 1,043 baskets were delivered to the pantries, and we have the same goal of 1,043 this year. Again this year we will partner with Brookfield Lutheran who has purchased, assembled and delivered Thanksgiving baskets in the central city for many years. Please let me know if you or your school/congregation would like to help or consider being a host site in the future.

This is where we need your help. You can help by praying for the mission, the individuals who are preparing, assembling and delivering, and for those who receive them. We also ask for financial help. Your generosity not only provides nourishment, it also shows the love you have for your neighbor.

Come and help me share your joy and love to others this Thanksgiving!

kohlKohl Scholarships

WCRIS is happy to once again administer the Herb Kohl Education Foundation scholarships this year on behalf of our members and the students they serve. This year each award has been increased to $3,000! These awards are a tremendous opportunity for your schools to recognize and honor the achievements of your students and teachers. The deadlines are fast approaching and it is very important that we make these opportunities available to our teachers and students.

Student Excellence Award
14 students from religious and independent schools will be selected out of 100 statewide, and awarded a $3,000 scholarship for post-secondary education.
Excellence Scholarship application forms will be provided to schools in September. Schools should make applications available to all interested students. Completed applications must be received by the District office no later than November 25, 2015.

PLEASE NOTE:  All Excellence Scholarship and Fellowship applications must be typed.  For your convenience, both applications are provided in a format that is compatible with Microsoft Word.
