I t taunted me for the better part of five innings. It was constantly there reminding me that I was a chicken. I'd focus on the game for a few minutes before I started to focus on it again. "It" was the rock wall on the Dew Deck of Miller Park that, at least in my mind, extended to the very top of the stadium. Throughout the game I went back and forth in my mind that I should try it. On one hand, go for it! On the other hand, you're an idiot and you'll probably get hurt. In the end, the challenge of trying won and I attempted the rock wall. Now, for some, this scenario wouldn't have even been a challenge. Yet, for me, it was an opportunity for me to try and conquer something that I had never done before.
Almost a full month in to the school year, what challenges are presenting themselves to you and how are you handling them? Whether it's a faculty member, a family, a student, or some other issue, by this time the challenges are mounting. My prayer for you is that you face these challenges not with fear, but with a reliance on our Lord who is our strength.
"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power,
of love and of self-discipline." 2 Timothy 1:7

Kohl Scholarships |

WCRIS is happy to once again administer the Herb Kohl Education Foundation scholarships this year on behalf of our members and the students they serve. This year each award has been increased to $3,000! These awards are a tremendous opportunity for your schools to recognize and honor the achievements of your students and teachers. The deadlines are fast approaching and it is very important that we make these opportunities available to our teachers and students.
Please see the information, deadlines and brief descriptions of the three scholarship awards below:
The Teacher Fellowship Award
14 teachers from religious and independent schools are selected out of 100 statewide, to receive a $3,000 grant. In addition, matching $3,000 grants will be awarded to the host school of each fellowship recipient.
Note: Teachers must be nominated before they can apply for this scholarship. The nomination deadline is September 25 so time is crucial! A nomination form can be handed in directly to your central office or completed online.
Student Excellence Award
14 students from religious and independent schools will be selected out of 100 statewide, and awarded a $3,000 scholarship for post-secondary education.
Excellence Scholarship application forms will be provided to schools in September. Schools should make applications available to all interested students. Completed applications must be received by the District office no later than November 25, 2015.
PLEASE NOTE: All Excellence Scholarship and Fellowship applications must be typed. For your convenience, both applications are provided in a format that is compatible with Microsoft Word.
