October, besides being beautiful with all of God's glory in full color, is also Pastor Appreciation month. Our South Wisconsin District Pastors just met in the Onalaska/LaCrosse area of which I had the opportunity to visit with pastors regarding specific needs they have at their congregation. Likewise I am available to speak with our LCMS congregation members about needs of the church. You might be a stewardship committee member, an elder, congregational president, or an everyday person in the pew like me. I welcome your calls and emails. Go to www.lcef.org to see all the services and resources available to our congregations here in South Wisconsin. Click here to see a brief LCEF video.

News for You
Gifts help LCEF round out the needs of ministries that are offering opportunities to learn about Jesus and meet community needs. Schools can stay focused on children's spiritual well-being and organizations can seek to find those that are lost and share the Gospel.

"
A new command I give you: love one another. As I have loved you, you also are to love one another." - John 13:34

Thanks "Giving" Mission

Last year, many individuals and congregations in the South Wisconsin District provided funds for Thanksgiving meals to families living in the central city of Milwaukee. The meal consists of a turkey and all the fixings for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. The goal every year is to fulfill the requests for the Thanksgiving baskets we receive from central city Lutheran pantries in Milwaukee. Last year 1043 baskets were delivered to the pantries, and we have the same goal of 1043 this year. Again this year we will partner with Brookfield Lutheran who has purchased, assembled and delivered Thanksgiving baskets in the central city for many years. Please let me know if you or your congregation would like to help or consider being a host site in the future.

This is where we need your help. You can help by praying for the mission, the individuals who are preparing, assembling and delivering, and for those who receive them. We also ask for financial help. Your generosity not only provides nourishment, it also shows the love you have for your neighbor.
Come and help me share your joy and love to others this Thanksgiving!

Rev. Peter Kelm - SWD Mission Executive
