THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

 ____________________________________________________

True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.

C.S Lewis

liamVote for Baby Liam

The nephew of our CEO, Cole Braun, is a writer in LA.  He and his team have produced a commercial and are in the FINAL 10 of the Doritos Super Bowl contest.  If his commercial gains the most fan votes by January 28th they will win $1,000,000.  The cool thing is that the star of the commercial is a HUGE SUPPORTER OF ML.  See the Photo below.   If and when they win, I know that Baby Liam and the group will continue to support ML and what we do here.

PLEASE VOTE 1 TIME PER DAY PER DEVICE UNTIL January 28 to get Baby Liam to the Super Bowl.  Also like their facebook page and share with as many friends as possible.

If you see his commercial on Superbowl Sunday that means that he is one of two finalists. The winner will be revealed the day after the Superbowl on Good Morning America.

GO SPARTANS AND GO BABY LIAM !!!

Here is the Instructions from them!

Remember, you can vote once per day per device (computer, cellphone, tablet). Follow these steps to cast your vote:

  1. Click this link
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the featured ad, "Baby's First Word," and click "VOTE."
  3. Repeat on any other device you own that has Internet!

If we get the most fan votes, "Baby's First Word" will win the 1 Million Dollar Grand Prize and will air during Super Bowl XLIX. We're one of ten ads competing for the Grand Prize and we can't do it without you!

Want to help spread the word? Share this email with five friends or follow 'VoteFirstWord' on social media for updates, interviews, and outtakes from the commercial.

wcrisWCRIS - New Executive Director

The new Executive Director of WCRIS is Sharon Schmeling!

Sharon (Sherry) is a graduate of Villanova and Marquette universities and comes to WCRIS most recently from the non-partisan, Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance (WISTAX). Previously, she was elected to the Jefferson County Board where she served as chairman for six years. Sherry has worked with the American Education Reform Council and has a background in journalism working for the Madison Capital Times and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Finally, in the days before WCRIS, Sherry worked with the Wisconsin Catholic Conference and the Wisconsin Association of Non-Public Schools (WANS), which later became the WCRIS we have today. Sherry has both a deep knowledge of and passion for our work as an organization. We are extremely pleased and excited to welcome Sherry to WCRIS.

Sherry will be introduced at the WCRIS conference on Friday, February 6.

PDPProfessional Development Plan (PDP)

Professional Development Plan (PDP)

Teachers and Administrators who received Wisconsin Certification, from Birth-High School, after 2004, are required to complete a Professional Development Plan, or PDP. They may be Initial Educators, those having their first license, or Professional Educators, those holding their second and successive licenses. Teachers who received a teaching license before 2004 MAY also complete a PDP instead of taking 6 credits.

The SWD has a person available who has extensive knowledge of this process and is willing to present seminars about the PDP process. This person is also able to coach individual teachers while they prepare their PDPs, as well as sign their goals and completed PDPs as a teacher or IHE.

We are trying to determine whether there is a need or interest in this service. The initial idea, if there is enough interest, is to hold a workshop to help and support those needing to complete a PDP. If you have a teacher who is in need to assistance through the PDP process, please contact Mark.

Intergenerational Women's Ministry: Not a Program, but a Mindset

Darcy Paape, DCE, WLI Director and CUW Campus Ministry Assistant

In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus commands us to go and make disciples. In truth, the words in the Greek mean, "as you are going" or "wherever you are going" make learners. How do you use already formed women's groups to become more intentional teachers and learners of the Gospel? How can you help your women build their confidence as urban missionaries just by helping them see Christ in their own story?
