Where has the time gone? I apologize if I repeat myself throughout the year, but I can't believe we are already in the "pre-holiday" season. I feel like it was just yesterday I was wondering where 2013 went!

Even though the weather isn't quite as warm as I would like it to be, I love this time of year because of Thanksgiving, it causes me to take the time and reflect on the past year. As I look back, the year brought times of good and bad, happy and sad, BUT a ton of blessings to be thankful for...family, friends, health, home, job, but most of all a God that stands beside me; guides and protects me through it all.  I am truly never alone!  You are truly never alone!

As you reflect on your 2014, remember to give Him thanks and praise for always being there with you and for you. And ask Him to continue to guide and protect you throughout the next year(s) to come.

A very blessed thanksgiving to you and your families!

Thanks "Giving" Mission

Last year, many individuals and congregations in the South Wisconsin District

provided funds for Thanksgiving meals to families living in the central city of Milwaukee. The meal consists of a turkey and all the fixings for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. The goal every year is to fulfill the requests for Thanksgiving baskets we receive from central city Lutheran pantries in Milwaukee. Last year 1056 baskets were delivered to the pantries, and we have the same goal of 1056 this year. Again this year we will partner with Brookfield Lutheran who has purchased, assembled and delivered Thanksgiving baskets in the central city for many years. Please let me know if you or your congregation would like to help or consider being a host site in the future.

This is where we need your help. You can help by praying for the mission, the individuals who are preparing, assembling and delivering, and for those who receive them. We also ask for financial help. Your generosity not only provides nourishment, it also shows the love you have for your neighbor.

Come and help me share our joy and love to others this Thanksgiving!

Making Meetings More Meaningful

Rev. Randy Raasch has served as pastor of First Immanuel Lutheran Church of Cedarburg, Wisconsin for more than 25 years. Here he shares about leadership within the church:

Meetings can be a waste of time. The meetings that most frustrate me are those conducted just for the sake of having a meeting. I don't have a problem with meetings, as long as they accomplish something. That's why I believe all meetings should have a stated agenda with articulated goals and desired outcomes.

Recipe of the Month

Pulled Brisket Sandwiches
Don't let the number of ingredients in this recipe scare you; I'll bet you have most of them in your pantry already. The sauce is what makes this dish so special.
