"According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it." 1 Corinthians 3:10

I was recently asked by a friend who's son is getting married, "if I understood her emotions of being excited, but at the same time feeling scared for him?" Being that I am in the same situation with my daughter getting married in two weeks, I definitely understand. The excitement of of this day finally here after dreaming of it for quite some time, yet scared because we fear the unknown future for our kids. As I told my friend, and to reassure myself, during these times of uncertainty we can find peace knowing that we raised our kids with a great foundation...the foundation of Jesus Christ that was laid for us. We, built upon it and now they too can build upon it as they begin their married lives and raise their families in the one true faith, of Jesus Christ. What a wonderful gift!

"SWD Passionate Believers Conference"

Divine Redeemer Lutheran Church & School
Hartland, Wisconsin

Keynote Speaker:
Michael Zimmer - Mission Facilitator, Northern Illinois District
Thanks "Giving" Mission

Last year, many individuals and congregations in the South Wisconsin District

provided funds for Thanksgiving meals to families living in the central city of Milwaukee. The meal consists of a turkey and all the fixings for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. The goal every year is to fulfill the requests for Thanksgiving baskets we receive from central city Lutheran pantries in Milwaukee. Last year 1056 baskets were delivered to the pantries, and we have the same goal of 1056 this year. Again this year we will partner with Brookfield Lutheran who has purchased, assembled and delivered Thanksgiving baskets in the central city for many years. Please let me know if you or your congregation would like to help or consider being a host site in the future.

This is where we need your help. You can help by praying for the mission, the individuals who are preparing, assembling and delivering, and for those who receive them. We also ask for financial help. Your generosity not only provides nourishment, it also shows the love you have for your neighbor.

Come and help me share our joy and love to others this Thanksgiving!

The Power of a Positive Example
Born in Walburg, Texas, the second youngest of nine children, John Kieschnick received a B.S. in Education from
Concordia Teachers' College, River Forest, Ill. Throughout his ministry, John has served on a variety of synodical boards and committees, both national and district (Texas). He has authored numerous stewardship Bible studies and programs.

During my two years as a teacher/principal/youth director from 1964-1966, God gave  me a wonderful example of an outstanding educator in the principal of a Lutheran school quite a few miles away. He and His wife encouraged me, supported me, taught me, fed me (I was single at the time) and challenged me to be the best churchman I could be. I am forever grateful to God for their kindness, generosity and positive example.

Professional Church Workers' Conference

November 14, 2014 - Olympia Resort, Oconomowoc

Theme: "Together with Glad and Sincere Hearts" -
Acts 2:42-47
style="font-size: 11pt;">

Keynote Speaker: Micah Parker

Keynote I - Mighty Warriors

Putting yourself in position to let God do the work. You have been called/chosen (just like Gideon's men) and that changes everything about their daily ministry. You will receive a handout that can be used for your own personal devotions or with a class or youth group.

Keynote II - Servant Leadership

Three steps to go from being a successful leader to an effective one. Christ is the best example of an effective leader and Satan is the best example of a successful one. Micah will share what true service look like, what it means to actually follow (instead of trying to lead God) and how effective God's love is.

Health Care Reform - Large Employer Responsibility
Helpful Tool to Determine Full-time/Part-time Status of Employees for employers who may have at least 50+ full-time employees (including full-time equivalent employees or FTEs).

An infographic providing an overview of the Affordable Care Act )ACA) Employer Shared Responsibility Mandate has been provided to Concordia Plan Services by one of our consultants, Towers Watson. This attached infographic provides the measurements and counting periods necessary to determine full-time and part-time status of employees. You may find this tool helpful in determining if you are a large employer of purposes of the ACA.

Larger employers (employers with 100 or more full-time or full-time equivalent (FTE) employees) may be subject to penalties in 2015 if they do not offer minimum essential coverage, or if the coverage they offer is not affordable or does not proved minimum value. This provision will apply to employers with 50-99 full-time or FTE employees in 2016 due to a delay in enforcement announced earlier this year.
