"Marching Off the Map: Pioneering New Territory to Meet the Needs of Students Today"
Dr. Tim Elmore

We are marching off the map into a new decade of student development. Baby Boomers challenged educators and leaders with the fascination of the T.V, the one-eyed babysitter. Now Generation Y provides challenges with their need to have a portable device on them at all times. How do we lead this new generation of "firsts"?

In this new speaking event for your school or campus, faculty and staff will learn:

  • How students' brains are different today, since they've grown up with pixels and screens
  • What educators can do to increase attention spans in students and their grasps of major concepts
  • When creativity is most essential and what adults  can do to engage students' creativity
  • What the critical elements are that we must furnish for student success. And more...

Cost:  $100, includes lunch and the book "artificial maturity"

Register online before Monday, September 15.

Effective 1/1/2015, workers can enroll as a dependent under their spouse's Concordia Health Plan (CHP) coverage during this year's Annual Open Enrollment period (9/15/14-10/15/14).

Concordia Plan Services amended its policy to allow a husband and wife, who are both employed by the same or different LCMS employers, to enroll in the CHP as a family under the employer of their choosing in any of the CHP options such employer offers.

KohnteacherKohl Teacher Fellowship Program

The purpose of the Herb Kohl Teacher Fellowship program is to recognize and support teaching excellence and innovation in the State of Wisconsin, USA. Our goal is to support teachers in the pursuit of their unrealized goals for their classrooms or professional development. Annually, the Foundation awards one hundred Wisconsin teachers with $1,000 Kohl Fellowship grants, and each Kohl Fellowship recipient's school receives a matching $1,000 grant. Recipients' professional accomplishments are celebrated at a recognition luncheon in the spring. Wisconsin's religious and independent schools receive a proportionate number of the total fellowships awarded each year.

To be eligible to compete for a fellowship, a teacher must be nominated by a:
* parent
* teacher
* student
* community member, or
* school administrator

Classroom teachers in Pre-K through grade 12 who plan to continue teaching in their current capacity for at least the following year are eligible for nomination.

Nomination Form   -   Nominations are due September 26.

chapelChapel Offering Opportunities

A Ban Against Neglect (ABAN), Wheat Ridge Ministries' newest INSPIRE project, is bringing healing and hope for a brighter future to young women and their babies living on the streets of Accra, Ghana.

ABAN is solving two problems with one solution. Every day, over 40 tons of plastic waste from drinking water bags is thrown into the streets of Accra. Every night, over 30,000 children fall asleep on those same streets. ABAN provides some of these street girls with safe shelter and food as well as an education and the opportunity to learn a trade, make a living and secure a future, while at the same time helping to transform their city into a healthier environment.  Learn more about ABAN, a current Wheat Ridge Ministries grantee.

Sharing the Good News with other believers in Christ

We need your continued support and prayers as we move forward with this collaboration to provide Gospel related materials for teachers, administrators and students.

Our team was invited to come to Accra and work with the school administrators and teachers.  This is a group of 5 Lutheran schools, with over 150 teachers and 2800 students all wanting to learn more about the Gospel and develop a personal relationship with their Lord as they teach and learn.

Opportunities to donate to the global EdAchieve initiative include:

  • Only $5.00 will purchase a Bible that will go directly to the 5 Accra Lutheran Schools.

  • We have a partnership with Family Christian Books Stores. Donate now! We will purchase a bulk shipment from Family Christian. Our goal is $5000 by Dec. 25th,  2014.Your $5.00 donate will last an eternity. It is the cost of a Starbucks drink.
Money must be directly donated to EdAchieve. We will purchase a bulk shipment to go directly to our schools shipped by Family Christian Book Stores -Ghana Bible Project! Our goal is to raise $5000 by October 15th, 2014.
