In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the repentance of the angels of God
over one sinner who repents. Luke 15:10
_______________________________________________________
A s many of you close out the year, my guess is there are plans in the making for a "get away" or two. If you're traveling any distance, you have probably looked at a map, or if like me, plugged it into your GPS to see the quickest and best route. My first couple of years in the District, I didn't go many places without my GPS. For comfort, I still use it from time to time because of not being totally sure of the path to take. Even then, there are detours that recalibrate the GPS, making me relying on it even more. How often do you rely on your Global Positioning System (GPS)? How often do you rely on God's Plan of Salvation? Even when it recalibrates?
Do you ever feel spiritually lost? Or, maybe unsure of God's plan? Don't fret, you're not the only one. The Bible is full of God's people who were spiritually lost. Luke 15 contains three parables about the lost: lost sheep, lost coin, and a lost son. Without God's GPS, you will remain lost. Now maybe your not lost, I hope not! But, there are many that are. As disciples of Christ, you are communicators of God's Plan of Salvation! Thousands of students will walk away from our buildings - some not to return. What do you want them to walk away with? Sure, the academic preparedness for the next level is important, but not as important as their salvation. May you continue to find joy in these last days, realizing the importance of your work for the Kingdom!
Blessings to all over the next months for some well deserved rest and relaxation!

The Wittenberg Project
|
The following information is from the Public Relations department at Synod:
Perhaps you're already aware of this, but this month we are launching a campaign for The Wittenberg Project (www.thewittenbergproject.org) and with it a special opportunity for our Lutheran schools to engage in the project by joining something called the Reformation 500 Club. Basically, we are offering them a chance to take part in the Gospel outreach that is being done through The Wittenberg Project, and congregation and schools in the Reformation 500 Club commit to each raising $500 over the course of the next school year. Here is more info on just the club: http://thewittenbergproject.org/reformation-500-club/.
We have quite a few PR activities in the works to get the word out on this. We have a Reformation 500 Club flyer already complete, a poster in the works, and a few other materials. This should be fun for the schools -- they get to choose how they raise their $500 and it is perfect for the teachers/principals who have not yet chosen a service project or cause to support for the next school year. This is a church-wide project, and we'd love to get everyone involved.
