THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
_____________________________________________________________
Often, in the midst of great problems, we stop short of the real blessing
God has for us, which is a fresh vision of who He is.

Mentoring
|

This year again, SWD will be supporting the New Teacher Mentor Program. Data has shown that mentoring programs are valuable and beneficial to new teachers in their first year of teaching.
This "intentional" mentoring program is designed to assist and resource new teachers who may be considered "at risk" within the first weeks of school. With a hands-on approach and personal intentionality, our hope would be to take good teachers that have been well prepared and give them the personal and professional confidences to be productive and efficient, as well as help build them a system of support as related to the school's mission. Our teachers are our most valuable resource - we can't expect everything they needed to know has been accomplished in a four year program.
If having a new teacher in your building for the upcoming school year, and looking for ways to support them, please contact Mark (email link to my name). The following link also describes the different options. Pending approval, District support for Level A is $1,000 and Level B is $600.

Curriculum Trak
|
Twelve of our schools partnered with Curriculum Trak this past year and many are on their way to putting all of their curriculum maps (aligned to state and national standards) into this web based program. Last year, with LCEF operating funds, we were able to support these schools with financial assistance towards the implementation of the program - we are prepared to do it again!
For all NEW schools interested in the program for the 14/15 school year, the attached pricing (setup fee and annual fee) is being proposed - this is at a reduced rate due to the number of schools that are already signed up in the District. If we reach nine more schools (total of 21 schools) all of our schools, including those that signed up last year, will get an additional discount!
So, for NEW schools signing up for the 14/15 school year, I will cover the set up fee and $1/student of the annual fee (same as last year). You won't find a better deal than this! If interested, please complete the "Agreement of Service" - last page of the first attachment. This sheet can then be sent to Sheryl Beerens at beerens24@gmail.com. She is also able to answer any questions you might have. For additional information, please view their website.

Yell and Tell
|
For the past couple of months, many of you have heard and seen the information on the Yell and Tell Program developed by Jean Davidson after she lost her grandson to a drowning accident. As mentioned at regional meetings, I will be sponsoring a portion of this program for any school wishing to participate. Below are the details. The program is designed for students in grades Kindergarten through Fourth grades. There are seven programs to choose from (POOLS....RIVERS/LAKES....FIRE....POISON....GUNS....CHILD ENTICEMENT....BULLYING). Each program cost $45 - which includes the Premium Kit and Teacher Resources (which includes all of the resources and materials to teach the program) and $1 per student. My office will sponsor the $45 Premium Kit (this is for the one program you select) and $.50/student. Therefore, your cost is $.50 per student and then any other programs you would like to purchase. If you are interested in this program, please let me know by Wednesday, March 26. We are also looking at providing two training sessions of the program where you would send one of your teachers to be trained. Dates being considered are Monday, April 7 at 1:00 at the District Office and the second on Tuesday, April 8 in the Sheboygan area (location to be determined) also at 1:00. The training will last approximately 60-90 minutes. More information about the program can be found on their website: www.yellandtell.com If questions, please let me know.
