CONTEST - Top Teacher Photo Contest... Upload your photo showing how your Lutheran school teachers have made an impact in your child's faith, school or community by January 19, 2014. Then, from January 20-26, come back once a day to vote. On January 27 (during National Lutheran Schools Week), we will announce the winners! We are awarding funds to Lutheran schools that have teacher(s) who are excellent educators. Multiple entries per school are accepted. Enter a photo of one teacher or a group picture. Remember to invite your family, friends and congregation members to vote as well! One vote per person per day.THE PRIZE The winning photos are determined by the number of votes cast for the submitted photo. Prizes will be awarded as follows:1st Place: $250 2nd Place: $150 3rd Place: $100. Questions can be sent to Mark L'Heureux or Diana Raasch.

WCRIS Leadership Conference

The WCRIS website has been updated with the conference schedule as well as information about the convention center and lodging.

The 2014 Leadership Conference will feature a special intensive workshop with internationally renowned keynote speaker Dr. Robyn Jackson. This conference is Title IIA eligible. It is helpful to register in groups of 2 or more - attending as a team will help build the learning capacity of your school by:
- empowering teachers
- increasing collaboration and shared best practice
- sharing decision-making in planning professional learning

Here are some links that I think you'll be interested in. Click the logo on the left - it will give you a very quick tour of what Wheat Ridge is about and get you linked to all the grants and other resources.
Three major kinds of grants are available. Grants rage from $1,000 to $50,000 for up to three years. Our newest grant option is Burst Projects - up to $5000 available, focused on young adults initiating creative projects in health and human care ministries. Age range is roughly 20-35 years old.
Also of interest is a new way of doing grants around crowd funding called WeRaise The site is live now and will have a public launch sometime early in 2014.
Wheat Ridge can also provide a great chapel offering projects, our Inspire project has great support material written by Lutheran Educators. I'd love to talk more if you do a District wide chapel offering project. I'm also available to lead chapels, as schedule permits, to support those efforts.

Timeframe - The tax deduction applies in 2014. Checks made out before January 1 would not be eligible for the deduction.

Due to our K-8 school that closed a couple of years ago we had an abundance of supplies, curriculum and other items. There was such an overabundance that we are no longer able to use everything. $1,000 LCEF Scholarships Available! Apply before February 28, 2014 at lcefuppermidwest.org/scholarships
Seven $1,000 LCEF upper Midwest districts scholarships will be awarded this year, one per district. Your college choice can be anywhere... As long as it is accredited. Awards are not based upon the type of degree you are pursuing. Students must be a current LCMS member of one of the following districts - Iowa Districts East, Iowa District West, Minnesota North, Minnesota South, North Dakota North Wisconsin and South Wisconsin . Do not wait until the last minute to apply; a one page essay and letters of recommendation are required. Graduating seniors and current college students should visit lcefuppermidwest.org/scholarships for qualification details and application.
