Greetings!

Leaders,

The author of Psalm 95 scribed these words. "Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song." Certainly, the author had something to be joyful and thankful for. Are we of that same mindset in our schools, classrooms and homes?

In a few short weeks, we will celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. Even though Thanksgiving is not an official holiday of the church year, many congregations and schools give it special recognition. As Christian followers, we recognize and celebrate major church holidays like Christmas and Easter for good portions of the church year. But like me, and many others, we often leave the celebration to one day, or a few, before becoming numb to the hoopla. Unfortunately this is true for many.

Christ didn't come to be celebrated two dates in the calendar (His birth and resurrection). Everyday, we are to remember God's promise of a Savior in the life, death and resurrection of His Son. Thanksgiving should be the same. Yes, we will take time on November 28 to give thanks and hold up the blessings we've been blessed to experience, but we should not limit this to one day. A number of people I'm friends with

on Facebook have posted a daily "Thankful" message. These are encouraging to read, and my encouragement to you.

Make a "Thankful" lists. Who and what would it include? Now take it a step further - if you included a person on the list, tell them. Lift their spirits, make their day. As well, God encourages us to be thankful - specifically to him, whom all blessings flow! May our joy and thankfulness overflow to those around you.

Peace and Joy,

Mark

Parents Satisfied with Schools, Teachers, and Standards

A central premise of the school choice movement is that parents know w hat's best for their children. When they have a choice, parents tend to select schools that match their expectations of what a school should be. Making that match is a source of satisfaction.

A new report from the National Center for Education Statistics confirms the fact that parents who choose their child's school are indeed more satisfied with the school and its various characteristics than parents who are assigned a school by the government.

scienceScience Teacher Opportunity - Space Academy

Throughout the week of Educators @ Space Academy, participants engage in a wide variety of activities that use space to meet math, and science objectives. All activities are correlated to National Science, Math and Reading Standards.

During the program, educators participate in a variety of activities including 45 hours of classroom, laboratory, and field-training. Simulated astronaut training exercises, high-performance jet simulations, scenario-based space missions, and flying programs are just a small sampling of what's in the curriculum.
