As we enjoy the final weeks of summer I am reminded of how much I enjoy the transition into the  fall months.  The fall signals the time for many of us to jump back into rehearsals and join in with our friends to work on projects and creative endeavors.  It's always a welcome time of year.

After many of years of developments we are now in the final stages of casting for The Hours of Life, a new works musical written and composed by local playwright and composer, Paul Lewis.  A very talented man and dear friend.  We go into rehearsals in just over a month for a December staging.  This will be a very compressed run with 10 performances in 12 days.  Knowing how busy the month of December is, I encourage you to plug us into your schedule now so as not to miss this very rare and special piece centered around Edgar Allan Poe and poet Sarah Helen Whitman.

Though Theatre22 is silent in our offerings this month, many of our company members, supporters and mentors have shows running around town and below we have shared some of those with you.  We wish them the best of runs and blessings of full houses.

Finally, stay tuned for our Season II announcement coming in the weeks ahead.  Our spaces are confirmed, directors lined up, and schedules in place.  Announcement coming soon!!!

Wishing you a great final week of summer and onset of fall!

In September, Theatre22 hosted our first-ever one-man touring show and it was a great success for the company and the touring artist.  This piece stirred up great conversations and controversy.  Our media sponsor, Seattle Gay News did a piece surrounding the show and the discussions it stirred up.  This article can be read HERE on their site.

Thanks to all who attended and supported Question of the Heart.

THE BUNNER SISTERS

adapted by Julie Beckman
(T22's director of 5th of July
from the novella by Edith Wharton

Theatre Off Jackson
teams up with brand new Seattle company
Athena Theatre Project to present an original adaptation of
Edith Wharton's novella The Bunner Sisters.

Set in New York in 1896, The Bunner Sisters tells the story of two working class sisters, Ann Eliza and Evelina Bunner, who have made a simple life for themselves by running a small basement hat shop. Ann Eliza's purchase of a clock for Evelina's birthday draws the sisters into a relationship with the mysterious Herman Ramy, a German clock-maker in a neighboring storefront, and the tenuous threads that hold their lives together begin to unravel. The play examines the powerful and intimate relationship between sisters, and how their fates are inextricable tied even when life pulls them apart. The adaptation is unique in its exploration of how the writer (a young Edith Wharton) develops her own voice through her exploration of the lives of her characters.
