Dear COABE members,
It is my pleasure to share that this year COABE will launch a public affairs and public awareness campaign as an outgrowth of a strong need that was identified during our strategic planning process. Services will be provided by
Ward Circle Strategies, a Washington D.C firm with an excellent and proven reputation. Our goal is to raise the visibility of adult education nationwide, which we hope will help adults in need of services, as well as raise awareness among funders and legislators alike.
One of the first steps in our campaign is to release a short video, which has been generously sponsored by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. The video is near completion; however, we are seeking authentic photos of students in classroom settings. If you would like to showcase your classroom in this video, contact PR@coabe.org by February 10, 2016.
Another facet of the campaign is our dual Capitol Hill Days, which are being organized for state association leaders and will take place on April 26th and September 28th. We are delighted that there will be representation from nearly all fifty states and will share more details on this shortly.
There are many additional components to this campaign, which I will be sharing in future communications. In the meantime, please know that we take great pride in serving you, our members, and hope that you will contact us with any thoughts or ideas that you might have as we continue to move forward on behalf of the field of adult education.
Sincerely,
Sharon Bonney Executive Director

We're committed to honoring the best of the best in our field! That's why we recently sought additional funding for our national award program. We are pleased to announce that, thanks to generous funding provided by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, our award stipend for each of the three categories (Adult Learner of the Year, Teacher of the Year and Administrator of the Year) has been raised from $1,000 each to $10,000 each! As a result, we are extending the deadline for submissions to February 15, 2016. Submit your nomination here, today!
