Hillsborough County Pediatric Society

Greetings!

As we are well on our way into the new year, I would like to thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives.  All of us at Small World Pediatrics are committed to the health and well-being of your children and are truly gracious for the trust you have in us.

Please remember that nothing helps prevent illness for you and your children like good old fashioned hand washing. The flu season has not been as active in the Wesley Chapel area as we have seen in recent years, but last week we saw a resurgence of the flu. Also, we are seeing stomach viruses causing vomiting and diarrhea in entire families. Hand washing goes a long way to help your family stay clear of both of these illnesses.

If you are on Facebook, please go and "Like" our page (Click Here) where we post updated information on health and community issues, which may affect you or your children.

Thank you & have a great day,
Dr. Jose Jimenez

Vaccine Safety
Many parents worry about the possible side effects of vaccinating their child and if their child really needs all those shots. Misinformation abounds on the Internet, making it hard to find a reliable source of information.  We have the facts you need to know.
Children
You probably heard it from your own parents: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But now you're the one saying it - to your sleepy, frazzled, grumpy kids, who insist "I'm not hungry" as you try to get everyone fed and moving in the morning.

Checking Up on Your Teen's Mental Health
Parents know to take their children to the pediatrician
for physical checkups, but mental health is as important as physical well-being.  A child's teenage years can seem stressful. Teenagers enter high school, where they must make new friends. Increased academic and athletic competition can make teens feel inadequate or overwhelmed.
