IAHU President's Message
December 2014
Ryan Heider
IAHU President

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the King's' wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it.  Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway.  The peasant learned what many of us fail to understand. Every obstacle presents an opportunity to grow and to gain.

I wish you all the success as you strive to help your clients navigate through the changes in health care reform. May we continue doing all we can, to help remove the obstacles in their way.

North Idaho Association of Health Underwriters

December 2014

The North Idaho Association of Health Underwriters is excited to be raising funds for our 7th annual Christmas Charity.  We will again be providing gifts, games, clothes, toys and so much more to the kids and patients at Kootenai Health Pediatric & Children's Advocacy Center.  We are hoping to raise $3,000 from the membership this year, to add to the almost $21,000 donated over the last 6 years.  Santa will deliver gifts on December 22nd and all NIAHU members are welcome to come and be a part of this wonderful moment of spreading care and hope to kids without asking anything of them in return.  100% of all donations go to this worthy cause!

Sincerely,

Mark Woodworth, RHU

Southern Idaho Association of Health Underwriters

December 2014

Southern Idaho Association of Health Underwriters held a Your Health Idaho November meeting.

This was a round table forum on navigating through the Your Health Idaho website and working with the Department of Health & Welfare. We all had different experiences and can see there will be a learning curve. The meeting was helpful for all of those attending.

Our December meeting will have a speaker from the Mountain Health Co-op, Dr. Doug Dammrose. He will provide additional insight to the new health insurance option for Idaho. In January, we are having CPA come address matters regarding the ACA Subsidies and how they will affect our clients.

Thankfully, we have survived the Medicare Annual Enrollment and now to conquer ACA enrollment!

Best wishes to all!

Respectfully,

Laura Drake

SIAHU President
