Commercial Swine
The 2015 World Pork Expo in Des Moines was a great opportunity to visit with customers, prospects and colleagues. In addition to our updated booth, graphics, and literature pieces, we had a number of activities and drawings to increase traffic in and around our booth. I want to thank our marketing and sales team who made this event a success. I believe we accomplished our three primary objectives, which were:
- Strengthen our brand and product platforms
- Say "thank you" to our many current customers
- Generate new leads/prospects for our sales teams, not only in the United States but around the world
As part of the annual event, we once again brought in our swine-focused sales group, along with our research and technical groups. These sessions are critical in assessing where we're at and more importantly, where we want to go. Again, I appreciate everyone's input as we discussed programs, products, research and future innovation projects throughout the expo.
 
The World Pork Expo is also a signal that warmer weather is here or if not, just around the corner on the calendar. With warmer weather typically comes heat stress and a loss of performance as feed intakes are adversely affected. We're fortunate to have a couple of technologies proven to limit the negative impact of heat stress.
Thermal Care™ 4S was designed to incorporate two specific physiological responses to assist pigs in dealing with heat stress, vasodilation and immune modulation. Feeding recommendations are 4 lb/ton for sows and boars, 2-4 lb/ton for grow-finish and 1-2 lb/ton for nursery pigs. Easyzyme®* is another specialty ingredient that has applications for supporting performance during heat stress. Many times, a nutritional solution to abating heat stress is to add fat to the diet which increases caloric content of the diet in addition to lowering heat increments in the digestion process. We know from previous research, 1 lb/ton of Easyzyme will replace 30 lb/ton of fat in the diet while maintaining similar performance. Training to be the Best
Robotic Milking Training Members of Rich Nisen's sales and technical team toured Andrew Kuehnert's family dairy farm in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, that recently installed a robotic milking and feed pushing system. The group was provided an overview of robotic milking systems by the Lely robot representative to learn more about the systems and feed management within them.
ECOSYL Webinar On June 1, Isaac Mayer of ECOSYL provided a webinar providing an overview of the fermentation process, research in support of the ECOSYL products and their attributes and application.
LOL-AMP Calf College Land O' Lakes Animal Milk Products recently held a two-day calf college covering all aspects of pre-weaned calf nutrition and management. Eleven participants from the ADM dairy team participated in this training. The program was held at the Iowa State University dairy farm and veterinary school providing a good mix of hands-on and classroom training. As there was a limited number of spots available for this training, we will be providing copies of all presentations on the Portal in the near future.

ADM's MoorMan's® ShowTec® Sale Burst CTC/DEN #21206AYWE4
First there was Burst, then there was Final Burst - and now there is MoorMan's ShowTec Sale Burst CTC/DEN.
Sale Burst Product Positioning
Sale Burst is a complete mini-pelleted feed designed for today's starting/growing show pigs being fed for show pig sales or for pigs in early exhibition feeding programs. It is formulated for feeding to show pigs weighing 35 to 75 lb body weight.
Sale Burst (#21206AYWE4) will completely replace Sale Prep. As inventories of Sale Prep are depleted at the location you receive feed from - its availability will be ended and new Sale Burst will be its replacement.
Sale Burst has been previewed by some top feeders. They have told us it has excellent palatability and is just the right combination they are looking for to bridge the gap for the pigs at the stage after Burst - but before our developers/finishers. It combines the goodies in Burst and Final Burst - but designed to give the look needed by pigs at this stage. Join the top feeders that evaluated it - and responded to us by saying they are "all in" with this new product - that it is just what they needed.
Discontinuing #12006AXU ShowTec Sale Prep Starter
As a result of the FDA's GFI 213 changes to antibiotic use, Zoetis has discontinued Aureo S-P 250®* Type B Medicated Feed, as it contained penicillin and a production claim (growth promotion and feed efficiency). The new FDA approved use excludes penicillin and the production claim. ADM Alliance Nutrition will be switching product medication as soon as our current inventory has been depleted. Currently, #12006AXU ShowTec Sale Prep Starter is the only show feed product sold within the past year containing the Aureo S-P 250 medication.

Over the past few months we have been testing these new products with some of your colleagues. The results have been positive -- both in terms of consumer acceptance and deer acceptance! A special thank you to those involved in the evaluation.

You can find the product pages for these three new products on the Portal. The block and tub are very similar nutritionally -- but in the form that your Customer will prefer.
Deer Product Pages
The tub is 100 lb. The block is 25 lb. Rack Plus designed labels are being finalized. Initial shipments may have a plain label. The mineral is packaged in a 10 kg bag (approx. 22 lb). A new Rack Plus specific bag is being ordered for the new mineral. Initial shipments will be in a plain bag with a Rack Plus label. Both of the block and bag sticker labels should be available soon.
Soon to be available through Business Services is the new Rack Plus Quick Reference Guide (SM0096) -- which now includes the three new products. It is located on the Portal under Specialty/Product Info/Reference Guides.
Now the other good news!
Any order size, between now and August 15, 2015, will receive a discount equal to $40.00 per ton on any and all orders of these three new products!
Please utilize this discount to encourage stocking and trial of these products. Please make a commitment that the next time you have an opportunity you will detail these new products to a potential Customer. Our dealers can benefit by stocking these great products.
- High CaliberTM and other deer tubs, the current Rack Plus mineral and the Deer 16 block will all be phased out.
