AminoGain Products Update
Effective immediately, product #53819 AminoGain® Traditional Balancer 1 has been upgraded to include more protein, NPN and bypass amino acid balance to bring it more in line with nutrient specs for a traditional grower ration. This product has the same focus as it has had in the past, which is to be used as a supplement to balance the amino acids in a traditional grower ration where no corn co-products are fed. The feeding rate is 1-1.5 lb/hd/day.
#53819 AminoGain Traditional Balancer 1 now contains 55% protein, 33% NPN.
Also, a new product has been added to the AminoGain line, product #54259 AminoGain Co-Product Finisher. This product is designed to be fed to finishing cattle. This product is formulated specifically for feedlot finishing cattle based on results from 2014 finishing trials. It contains more protein and NPN than the regular #53497 product and has amino acids balanced for finishing feedlot cattle. The feeding rate is 1-1.5 lb/hd/day.
#54259 AminoGain Co-Product Finisher now contains 54% protein, 35% NPN.
The NPN in both products is supplied by urea and biuret to take advantage of the benefits of each of these.
The tags can be found on the Portal, and product pages for both are being updated and will soon be posted to the Portal.

Commercial Swine
Over time, many of our customers have become more specialized in their production systems. It might be related to capital, natural resources such as grain availability/land base or simply the availability or expertise in labor/management. Regardless of the reason, producers are more technical and specialized than ever before.
Regardless of the specific business decisions, I think it's important to remember how our three product platforms, Parity Plus®, MotivAte™ and MaxLean® build upon one another from START to FINISH.
Parity Plus breeding herd products serve as the basis for maximizing performance and profitability in today's high producing breeding herds. Specific technologies, such as Zinpro's Availa®* Sow are designed to enhance lifetime reproduction and have a positive impact on whole herd profitability. Whether your customer is simply producing weaned pigs or is involved in farrow to finish, Parity Plus technologies will benefit their bottom line.
Fast Start - Fast Finish. Getting pigs off to a quick start in the nursery pays dividends all the way to market. From the selection of specific lactose/specialized protein sources to proprietary ingredients that are beneficial during periods of stress, the MotivAte line of starter products provides the impetus to get pigs started efficiently and profitably. University and industry experts agree, every extra pound out of the nursery means pigs reach market two to three days quicker.
MaxLean products are designed to maximize lean growth and profitability in growing and finish pigs. A key component of all MaxLean products is the incorporation of technologies relating to genetic potential, growth/intake curves, energy/amino acid relationships and our ingredient data base. As we continue to develop our expertise around genetic potential and ingredients, our ability to identify, quantify and ultimately incorporate these technologies into feeding programs which achieve maximum performance/profitability for the customers we serve is enhanced.
As we continue to look for opportunities to improve our current nutritional platforms, we're also reviewing/updating our Swine Animal Health offerings which we'll be sharing with you over the next 30-60 days.
Two product offerings at this time will change to 20 -bags as current inventories are depleted. The two products with updated package codes are:
- Super B Plus #81340017
- Safe-Guard®* Dewormer #84040017
Thanks and good selling.

The sessions will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn Northwest and provide a comprehensive look at new products, current research activities and supplier updates. There will be a full-day session on Wednesday May 6. The morning session will be geared for ADM Dairy Specialists with Dealers joining Specialists in the afternoon session. A half-day program will be held on May 7 for both groups. Detailed information will be provided in the near future.
It Surely Can't Be Time To Begin Thinking About Thermal Care™...Or Is It?
Getting excited as it is feeling like spring with temps going from sub-zero actual temperatures not too long ago to nearly 50 degrees and higher. So again...when does a cow begin experiencing heat stress?
It won't be long until cow immunity, production, components and reproduction will be affected by warm weather; yes I said...warm...and not hot weather. Cows begin experiencing heat stress at temperatures we humans feel is comfortable. Once it becomes hot, much of the economic damage is done. We have to recognized this.
Now is the time to begin thinking about how you will put Thermal Care to work for your dairy producers this warm weather season, keeping cows producing, and putting more money in the dairyman's pocket.
PowerSurge® Concentrate (34854AAA77) -- Powerful Calf Technology
Dairy Solutions® PowerSurge Concentrate is a dairy calf supplement designed to be mixed with on-farm milk or pasteurized milk to enhance calf health and performance. It provides a multi-faceted approach to enhance feed digestion, calf health and growth efficiency by combining synergistic technologies, including ADM proprietary ingredients. This combination of ingredients is collectively known as SI InsideSM, which is a specific blend of prebiotic carbohydrate and starch, natural-source vitamin E, complexed (organic) trace minerals and natural botanicals. PowerSurge Concentrate is available in 20 lb. pails with scoop and floor-stocked at Quincy.
Key Points
- CitriStim® - An ADM exclusive, proprietary yeast mannan product which has been shown to be more effective in lowering the E. coli (pathogenic bacteria) population compared to a leading competitive product.1 Fewer pathogens mean better health. This yeast mannan provides greater support to intestinal tissues. Calves responded to this yeast mannan with a 12% ADG advantage over controls.2
- PremiDex™ - This modified starch is an ADM proprietary feed ingredient that provides nutrients needed to establish favorable bacterial populations in the calf's gut, which may lead to better calf performance.
- Natural-source vitamin E and selenium yeast - Highly bio-available antioxidant sources support immune function. Protects body tissue from oxidative damage and enhances immune system function, which is especially critical under stress conditions. Research studies show natural-source vitamin E has more potent antioxidant activity compared with synthetic vitamin E.
- Direct fed microbials - Provide beneficial bacteria recognized for pathogen exclusion properties and ability to produce enzymes that promote feed utilization.
- Complexed (organic) trace minerals - Complexed (organic) forms of zinc, manganese, copper and iron provide highly bio-available minerals proven to enhance immune function and calf performance.
- Select mix of plant extracts - Specific mixture of plant extracts used to enhance feed digestion and may be potentially beneficial to the calf's immune system.

R&D/Innovation News
Background
For over 10 years, ADM research as aggressively pursued natural nutritional solutions for reducing the performance slump caused by summer heat stress. Heat stress costs U.S. dairy producers over one billion dollars each year.1 Providing solutions to the challenges that producers and our customers face daily is the core of our business. Thermal Care™ R was developed to help alleviate heat stress in dairy cows. Key ingredients in Thermal Care R have been selected based on their ability to:
- Support rumen function
- Increase feed and water intake
- Enhance immune function
- Dissipate body heat
Please review the trial results from the two most recent Bottom Line Reports, that illustrate the economic returns Thermal Care R can deliver to your customers' bottom line.
Bottom Line Report #1: Thermal Care R Helps Cows Maintain Performance During Heat Stress (Field Trials)
- Multiple studies conducted on commercial dairy farms across the US have demonstrated advantages of feeding Thermal Care R to lactating dairy cattle during heat stress.
- Implications: When using data from these studies in conjunction with December 2014 milk component and feed prices, the economic advantage of using Thermal Care R in lactation rations was $0.67/hd/d. This advantage would lead to a $335 increase in profit per day on a 500-head dairy farm.
Bottom Line Report #2: University Trials Indicate Thermal Care R Decreases Losses During Heat Stress
- Trials conducted at the University of Georgia (UGA) and Arizona State University (ASU) have demonstrated the advantages of feeding Thermal Care R to lactating dairy cattle during heat stress.
- Implications: When using data from these studies in conjunction with December 2014 milk component and feed prices, the economic advantage of using Thermal Care R in lactation rations was $0.58/hd/d. This advantage would lead to a $290 increase in profit per day on a 500-head dairy farm.
For additional results, observations and data please refer to the two new Bottom Line Reports.
Watch your inbox for "The Bottom Line" updates from the Research and Innovation teams. You can download this and other forthcoming reports from our new Portal page >> www.service.admani.com/TheBottomLine (Departments > Research > Bottom Line Reports tab)

ADM's MoorMan's® ShowTec® AminoGain Goat
This product has been embraced by the show goat industry and the product has achieved consistent growth as the word has spread. As soon as current supplies are depleted, we will be increasing the energy content by increasing the fat level from 3% to 4% to help soften goats up just a bit.
New ShowTec® Bags and Bag Standards
The link below will take you to the new ShowTec bag designs, and the products that go in each bag. Please note that the transition will be based on inventories at each plant. Unfortunately, since current inventories vary between plants, this changeover will be a gradual process. Please work to inform your customers of these changes with our bags.
You can find this information on the Portal (login required) by going to: Show Feed/Product Info/Containers, Standards/ShowTec Bag Standards
One thing you will especially want to note is the new bag that will be used for several of the current ShowTec top-dress products, including Showts™.
One last point - with recent strikes on the west coast ports, there has been a delay in receiving the new ShowTec bag that will be used for Showts (along with several other products). These bags arrived last week, but there was one batch of Showts made and packaged in the new ShowTec generic swine bag (see below). Please make sure to let your customers know of this short term substitution.
NEW 2015 Livestock Youth Award Form Access editable form from the portal or website. New Final Burst is Here! MoorMan's® ShowTec® has added another tool to our Show Feed toolbox! MoorMan's ShowTec Final Burst (#24440AAAE4) is now available!
- Final Burst is for the last phase of pre-show feeding.
- Final Burst was initially developed for the state of Texas to compete in their marketplace.
- Final Burst is a non-medicated mini-pellet designed for show pigs weighing 150 lb and up.
- Final Burst provides that "final burst" of power needed to compete in the show ring.
- Final Burst is currently being added to the ShowTec Swine QRG brochure (S9368) which will be available in Business Services in the next few weeks.
A postcard was developed by Vickie Matthews, ADM Inside Sales Representative, for Springfield, MO, area dealers and their customers. If you would like something similar for your customers, please let us know.
Additional marketing materials on Final Burst will be available later, but we want to move forward by making this product available now rather than waiting until all the marketing materials were available. The show feed industry tends to react more rapidly and responsively when there isn't an overabundance of new product advertising but rather kept more low-key and word-of-mouth from influencers in the industry. We believe Final Burst will make its greatest impact utilizing this style of marketing strategy. We will be developing marketing support materials for Final Burst very soon.
- Encourage your customers and dealers to keep up on the latest with MoorMan's ShowTec by liking the ADM Alliance Nutrition - MoorMan's ShowTec Facebook page.
- Direct your customers and dealers to the ADM Alliance Nutrition YouTube Channel to learn more about ShowTec products and feeding programs from our Specialists.
- 2015 MoorMan's ShowTec $4.00 Coupons are available! Contact Laura Meyer for a supply.

Feed Coupon Updates
We have completed our first 12 months of offering coupons. The results have been an increase in sales for those dealers using coupons. The most widely used coupons have been the pre-printed coupons given to customers by dealers in their stores or at promotional events. Since these coupons are handed out close to the point-of-purchase, the pre-printed coupons have been the most effective in generating sales and repeat business. The current pre-printed coupon offers available are:
Patriot® -- $15 off 20 bags loyalty coupon
Pen Pals® Rabbit -- $20 off 20 bags loyalty coupon
Proud Paws® Pet Foods -- $20 off 10 bags loyalty coupon
Pen Pals Chicken -- $2.00 off one bag (see details in 2015 Chick Days below)
GRO & GLO Event Days -- $5.00 off one bag
ShowTec® Event Days -- $4.00 off one bag
The on-line coupons have expired and will not be renewed. However, we will use on-line coupon offers in the future for special product promotions, such as new products or as an incentive for a customer to try one of the higher value products. We would encourage you to utilize the pre-printed "loyalty coupons." These are index card size coupons, and it is recommended the dealer keep them at their place of business. When the customer returns to make a purchase, it is noted on the back of the coupon. Once the total number of purchases has been fulfilled on the loyalty coupon, the coupon can be redeemed. The loyalty coupon will keep the customer coming back to the store. Below is an example of the Patriot loyalty coupon, front and back:

You may order the Patriot, Pen Pals, Proud Paws and GRO & GLO coupons by emailing Sandy Chatten. Note: The ShowTec coupons may be ordered from Laura Meyer.
Lessons learned this year that will improve the speed in which payments are received for submissions:
- Create an invoice to list the coupons in the submission
- Use the business name and address as the return address on the envelope.
- Personal addresses have been denied payment by the clearing house
- Have a tracking number set up for large dollar submissions
- Keep a copy of your submissions

Proud Paws...Good News/Bad News
Bad news first...Due to a delay in shipment of empty bags, some ANI locations may be out of Proud Paws Performance 27/18 Dog Food (#80052AAA) until early April.
Good news...We do not want your Proud Paws Performance customers to purchase another brand of pet food. To help ensure this doesn't happen, we are offering you a $3.00/bag discount off the Proud Paws Ultra-Select 27/15 40-lb bag (#80823AAA95) and $1.50/bag discount off the Proud Paws Ultra-Select 27/15 20-lb bag (#80823AAA97). The discount will fire on all orders placed between March 9 and April 9, 2015.
Why Proud Paws Ultra-Select?
This is our best nutritional package, and that gives you the opportunity to offer a nutritionally superior alternative.
Why $3.00 off a 40-lb bag?
Depending on the ANI location, the price difference between Proud Paws Performance 27/18 and Proud Paws Ultra-Select 27/15 is approximately $3.00/bag. You will be able to offer the superior product at the same price point.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause, and believe this offer will soften the disappointment. Perhaps it will result in a more satisfied customer.

Specialty Ingredients

ADM Nova-E™ Natural-Source Vitamin E is produced by extracting α-tocopherol from oilseeds and then stabilizing the molecule as α-tocopheryl acetate for use in animal feed. Synthetic vitamin E has always held a cost advantage compared with vitamin E extracted from natural plant sources. Within the last few years, however, science has shown that the chemical differences between naturally-sourced and synthetic vitamin E vary greatly in their impact on health of humans and livestock.
The new Usage Guide will help you and your customers understand the biology of Nova-E and aid in developing a supplementation strategy that optimizes the return on investment for this unique molecule.
Did you know?
- Natural-source vitamin E represents about 5% of the total vitamin E market.
- It takes almost three months to isolate and process Nova-E into feed-grade, d-α-tocopheryl acetate.
- One ton of Nova-E 405 requires processing of three million pounds of vegetable oil or about 7,000 acres of soybeans.
Please keep in mind that we encourage and appreciate your feedback to improve the content and other elements of the guide. As you use it with your customers please send us your feedback, comments and questions.
