Building off the successful introduction of the MotivAte™ Starter Program, we're excited to start introducing our next platform of offerings...a grow/finish product line of products. MotivAte Starter feeds continue to gain sales and market share simply because these products perform. Their success can be tracked to a handful of specific initiatives including:
- Expanding our innovation/research commitment.
- Rationalizing products simply means getting to the best technologies...quickly.
- Training the channels. Providing information on how products work and demonstrate.
- Know your support people.
As we looked at our new grow/finish product line, it became very evident that our MaxLean® brand effectively communicates what we've designed in our new product offerings and complements/builds on our MotivAte platform as we look to maximize performance and profitability to the customers we serve. Highlights of the new programs include:
- Internal/external reviews of vitamin and trace mineral levels.
- Packaging product offerings around specific ingredient combinations.
- Optimize efficiency by accounting for correct amino acid to energy ratios.
- Optimizing amino acid ratios down to 3rd and 4th limiting amino acids.
- Minimizing environmental impact.
Established Brand.....New Technologies......Maximum Performance and Profitability
We're in the process of training the channels as we speak. Within the next week, we will have trained the majority of our sales professionals involved with current/future swine producers. We'll have a company-wide webinar on October 10 to reach our remaining sales professionals. In addition, our support people will be glad to answer any questions you may have. Good selling -- Stay safe and we look forward to sharing our next new wave of technology with everyone.

Second CropTM/Forage
John Klein
Forage Update
Thanks to everyone that helped getting forage preservatives out to our customers so far this year. By the time you read this, the corn silage harvest will be winding down for most of the country. As high moisture corn harvest begins, encourage your producers to focus on proper moisture. I have had several producers over the years put corn in bunkers at 23%-25% moisture, only to watch it turn dark and lose value.
- High-moisture shell corn should run from 26%-36% moisture; ideal would be between 28%-32%.
- When putting up high-moisture ear corn, the ideal moisture is 32%-36% with the minimum being 26% and maximum of 40%.
- For bottom unloading oxygen-limiting silos, the minimum moisture on shell corn is 24% and ear corn is 26%. The maximum moisture for that system on shell corn is 32% and ear corn is 36%.
Weather and time become very critical during harvest. Make sure that you are applying the correct level of preservative for the moisture level of what you are harvesting. Covering this expensive pile is critical. Having the correct amount of tires or sidewalls to hold down the cover is just as important. See photo below showing adequate weight. Also notice that the side walls are touching; they are doubled on the seams and are tied together so they don't move around very easily.
If you have any questions or concerns, give me a call at 712-647-8611 or email me and I'll do what I can to help out. I hope everyone is having a safe harvest, and continues to be safe.

The new Efficacy of Easyzyme®± Across Three Added Fat Levels Research Review (S13201) recaps a recent study conducted at the ADM Alliance Nutrition Research Center. This experiment evaluated the value of Easyzyme in relation to pig performance using diets with defatted DDGS and three inclusion levels of added fat. Main effects were Easyzyme (0 vs. 0.05%) and added fat (0, 2 or 4%) in the experimental diets, which also included corn, soybean meal and DDGS (3.9% fat).
Technologies continue to evolve to extract additional oil from dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS). Previous research shows the benefit of feeding Easyzyme is enhanced when appropriate dietary lysine to metabolizable energy (ME) ratios are met.
The research findings showed...
- Easyzyme improved ADG (average daily gain) and FCR (feed conversion ratio) in pigs fed diets with no added fat, similar to diets with 2% added fat.
- Increasing inclusion rate of added fat resulted in linear decrease in ADFI (average daily feed intake) only in absence of Easyzyme.
- Efficacy of Easyzyme may be influenced by the amount of added fat in the diet.
Based on today's economics and maintaining similar lysine to metabolizable energy (ME) rations, replacing 40 lb of fat in diets today with 1 lb of Easyzyme and having the appropriate amount of corn/soybeal meal, would generate a savings of approximately $9.05 per ton with no impact on growth or feed efficiency. In light of today's economics, it is difficult to imagine another technology that can provide our customers and prospects a similar return on investment!
We encourage you to check out the Research Review and share it with your current customers and prospects. Easyzyme and Specialty Ingredient (SI) sales support material can be found on the SI page of the Portal.
