AMPT™     AMPT Logo

Many who are reading this are already familiar with our new mineral, AMPT, which will soon be introduced. If you are not, I'd like to take some space here and give a brief overview. AMPT, which is an acronym for Advanced Mineral Performance Technology,  is a very exciting new beef mineral product which, as the name suggests, capitalizes on some new and exciting technology. While I don't have the space here to give a full description, rest assured you will be hearing and seeing much more about AMPT.

 AMPT Bag

We have been working on this product for almost a year, seeking input from sales team members, developing the formulations, the name, and marketing material. A final barrier was recently passed in getting the logo cleared and moving forward with trademarking the AMPT name and logo. We are now getting ready to share more information on the product and are currently getting bags printed in time for production in the next couple of months.

AMPT has been being tested in several markets to get consumption and producer responses. So far, we have sold nearly 100 tons and responses have been coming back very positive. AMPT is currently being made in Abilene (KS) and Comanche (TX) with plans to manufacture in Quincy (IL) as well. These will be the three plants to produce AMPT, until the market dictates evaluating other production facilities.

A soft launch of AMPT is scheduled this summer and then a national launch is planned at the 2014 National Angus Convention and Trade Show in Kansas City in early November, and continuing at the National Cattlemen's Beef Assoc. Convention in San Antonio in February 2015.

We are very excited about this new mineral line and look forward to informing and training as many people as possible on this new and impressive line of range minerals. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Jeff Hill, Chris Hagedorn, Dan Knoll, or Kent Egbert, for more information.

Can AminoGain Still Give a ROI with Lower Corn Prices?

by Dr. Gerald Walker, product/technical manager, AminoGain

One common question today about using AminoGain (AG) is, "With the price of corn moving lower in the $4 range, can it still pay to use AminoGain?" When AminoGain was first introduced, the price of corn was around $3.50/bu. Before corn increased to the $7/bu range, it paid to feed AG then! At that time, the price of corn was very similar to where it is today. The price of corn, for the most part, does not change the ROI from feeding AminoGain. Click the link below for Dr. Walker's entire article.

We have a couple new names in this group and several who have moved up as I review FY2012. Having a chance to work with a lot of these sales professionals fairly frequently, I believe they all have some common traits which lead to their success:
  1. They listen to their customers. They find out what their customer's individual needs are to be successful.
  2. They provide excellent service. They understand the changes occurring in their marketplace.
  3. They are great consultants, whether talking feed, health, animal flow or finances.
  4. They are always the first to share with their customers ADM Alliance Nutrition's best technologies and they are early adapters.

In general, they bring added value to the customers with which they work, just as all of our sales professionals are required to do on a day-to-day basis to be successful.

We have some great new technologies to help everyone service the swine opportunities in your area, such as the MotivAteTM Starter Program. We have some existing technologies that continue to grow market share, such as EasyzymeTM and CitriStim®. Finally, over the next several months, our Swine Team is working diligently to share our newest technologies in the grow/finish and breeding herd area as we move forward.

Thanks to all for everything you do for the ADM Swine Group and once again, congratulations to our Top Ten Club!

Forage Inoculants

It won't be long before it is time to start harvesting spring forages. Inoculants play a vital role in all good forage programs. Research from leading universities has shown the following benefits when using a good quality inoculant on fermented forages: Increased dry matter recovery, improved fermentation profiles, improved bunk stability and increased milk production. ADM Alliance Nutrition offers a number of excellent inoculant products. Refer to Super Sile, Pro-Silage Builder®, Pro-Silage StabilizerTM, and ECOSYL®*. Silo-Guard II®** is another preservative you may want to consider.

Thermal Care™ R Coldsprings Farms Spotlight

Thermal Care R (dairy) Coldsprings Farms Spotlight 09-13

Thermal Care logo

Matt and Debbie Hoff own and operate Coldsprings Farms near New Windsor, MD. The origin of their Carroll County family farm can be traced back to 1869. Matt and his wife took ownership of the farm in 2005. Today, Coldsprings Farms, one of the largest dairies in the state of Maryland, consists of 980 registered Holstein cows. Additionally, they farm around 2200 acres. [more]

In the spring of 2013, the Hoff's completed construction of a new barn to house some of their milk cows. At the start of the summer, fan installation in the new barn had not been completed. In June, with summer heat looming, Matt decided to include Thermal Care R in one of his lactation groups to help cows deal with upcoming heat stress. In conjunction with ADM Alliance Nutrition, a field demonstration was set up, whereby one of the groups in the new barn was fed Thermal Care. A second group served as a control with no Thermal Care. Reference Resources

Three excellent resources have recently been added to the Specialty section on the Portal under the Presentations, Educational tab. At your convenience you may review the following:

Advertising/Customer Awareness

To support and promote the most complete nutritional fawn/calf starter in the commercial wildlife industry, TraceMaxFawn Starter, 81482AAA, a full-page ad will appear in the spring issue of the North American Deer Farmer magazine. You may find this ad posted on the Specialty page on the Portal under Advertising.

To recognize the measurable and positive difference of Thermal Care, a half-page ad will appear in the May issue of The North American Elk Breeders Journal. This ad is also posted on the Specialty page on the Portal under Advertising.

New Deer & Elk Feeds

Check the Portal for the product pages for six, new performance-oriented deer and elk feeds. After a thorough review of current core and custom deer feeds, these new core products will meet or exceed the nutrition expectations for commercial wildlife operators. Whole herd nutrition, not just antler production, is the focus for producers of bigger bodied and healthier animals in this ever-increasing competitive industry. Here are some of the product benefits that meet the "new normal" nutrition requirements that top-performing commercial wildlife producers are seeking.

  • Multiple protein sources and balanced amino acid profile
  • Direct-fed microbials
  • Increased fat level from stabilized rice bran and grain sources
  • CitriStim®
  • Increased calcium/phosphorus ratio
  • NSE and increased vitamin E level
  • Increased vitamin D level
  • Garlic and Thermal Care options
