What products are considered Alliance Animal Health Products?

Why AAH is important to me and why it should be important to you!
When I think of Alliance Animal Health, I think of several groups of products that were put together because they are multi-species products that complement and round out what we have to offer. The #1 reason why I personally love AAH products is because I get to see on a daily basis how they open doors and solve problems! Find the Problem, Offer a Solution, Become the Resource! Such a great feeling, wouldn't you agree? We may not have their feed business today, but if we become that trusted resource on other products we are set up to capture their feed business in the future.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our MotivAteTM webinar on July 29 -- great attendance. For those not able to participate, or for those who would like a quick review, I'd encourage you to listen to the recording of the webinar. The MotivAte presentation can also be a great tool for reviewing the program with your producers and answering any questions they may have.

MotivAte Program Presentation

In addition to the MotivAte Product Pages and Quick Reference Guides (Starter Pellets and Pig Mix/Premix), we've recently added one additional tool to assist you in your sales efforts. It's a Pig Mix/Premix Five-, Four- and Three-phase Feeding Program guide for mixing to allow some additional flexibility in servicing and working with specific customers to meet their needs.

Finally, I'd encourage you to review the following Technical Edge entitled Influence of Starter Pig Performance on Subsequent Grow-Finish Performance. It's a great piece to review with customers in positioning the MotivAte Pig Starter Program and the positive impact it can make on pigs all the way to market.

It's time to get back to the basics when comparing Enertia® to Prilled Fats...

Enertia logo

The new Enertia Core Competitive Principles and the recent Research Review tell us that:

  • Enertia provides superior value for energy, calcium, and essential fatty acids.
  • Competitor claims are essentially energetic half-truths:
    • Calcium salts is old technology
    • Calcium salts reduce feed intake (more than other fats)
    • High-palm bypass fats are really beneficial for the producer

We feel these tools will help you in your Enertia selling strategies. Below are additional introductory comments about the two new documents. If you have any questions please contact Camissa Hummel or Dr. Dwain Bunting.

The new Enertia Core Competitive Principles and the recent Research Review can be found on the SI Portal page at the following links:

The Enertia Research Review comparing Enertia and Prilled Fats on Milk Fat and Feed Intake, evaluates whether Enertia or prilled fatty acid bypass fats (prilled fats) differed in their influence on feed intake and milk fat concentrations.

In two of the studies with mid-lactation cows, level of supplemental bypass fat were used that were almost two times higher than that typically used in the field. In these two studies, the supplemental fats were introduced into the ration abruptly prior to measuring effects on feed intake. In a third study, longer term effects were measured on more typical ration levels of supplemental fat. In all studies, typical silage-based Midwest dairy rations were used. Energy Booster 100® (Milk Specialties Global Animal Nutrition) was used as an example of prilled fats.

The research findings showed...

  • Inclusion of either source of bypass fat (calcium salts or prilled fats) reduced feed intake. A reduction in approximately one pound per head per day was consistent with having increased energy density by adding supplemental fat.
  • Enertia and Energy Booster 100 generally had similar effects on feed intake.
  • Effects of Enertia or Energy Booster 100 on milk fat percentages were not distinguishable.
  • Energy Booster 100 is nutritionally similar to other prilled fats; therefore, we would expect that Enertia would not differ from other prilled fat sources.

(For additional procedures and summary information please refer to the Research Review.)

The Enertia Core Competitive Principles takes a step back and revisits key points on the consistent quality, value, and proven performance of Enertia:

  • Enertia has been produced in the United States for ten years with ADM quality standards.
    • How consistent is the quality, service, and product supply on imported materials?
  • Enertia provides superior value for energy, calcium, and essential fatty acids.
    • Having proven, higher digestibility, Enertia results in a much lower cost per pound of net energy as fat.
  • Enertia is produced using proven rumen bypass technology.
    • Advanced calcium salt products for enhancing reproduction, milk CLA content, and metabolism continue to be the gold standard for bypass fat technology.
  • The energy density of Enertia reduces feed intake slightly; however, milk efficiency per pound of feed consumed increases.

Are all the claims on high milk fat in high palm products valid?

This document also takes a look at product claims on superior milk fat in high palm bypass fats (C16>80%).

  • In research done by several influential universities, these products have shown increased milk fat percentage and yield compared to calcium salts.
    • High palm acid products can increase milk fat content and yield, however, with C16:0s greater efficiency in transferring to milk fat, there are less fatty acids available in reserve stores for other functions of the cow (oxidation for energy, restoration of body reserves, mammary functions).

If you are reading this and would like to share your feedback about these two new documents, in return for an Enertia cap, please email us at ANI.SpecialtyIngredients@adm.com.

Feel free to contact us with any question you may have or if you would like to receive copies of either of these new documents.

Commercial Game Bird

Please refer to the Portal for a readable/printable Game Bird products and program guide. This year's crop of pheasant, chukar, quail and waterfowl chicks and poults are started and progressing through the grower/development phase. One- hundred pheasant chicks will consume approximately 20 lb of Alliance Nutrition complete feeds to reach flight-ready size and condition. Adding just one new account that produces 20,000 birds can mean 200 tons of new business. Want to know where the producers are located? Contact Jim Sours or Karen Gregg for the producer information available from the national and or state associations.
