Back to School Health Tips!
| The start of the school year is right around the corner, and for many of us, that means getting the kids ready, and making sure they're in good health before heading back to class. Here are three important things to look out for, which will help keep your kids healthy while they're away at school:
Germs
To prevent infections, teach children to wash their hands frequently. Hand sanitizer will work in a pinch-make sure it's got at least 60% alcohol or something else to kill the germs. Teach them not to share personal items like cups or hats, which can spread head lice, and to cough into their sleeve, not their hand. It's also a good idea to get your child a routine check-up before school starts, to make sure he/she is in good health to start the school year.
Nutrition
Getting your kids to eat healthy all the time is a struggle for many parents, but it doesn't have to be. Start incorporating fruits and vegetables to their regular meals when packing lunch. If your child eats hot lunch at school, make sure that they have a healthy breakfast at home. Good food helps boost the immune system, so if they're eating right most of the time, the chances of getting sick will decrease immensely.
Vaccinations/Immunizations
Every school that requires these will send you a list well before the school year starts. That being said, it's important to make sure you cover all your bases. Get your shots done and documented, and make sure to keep track of dates, and types of immunizations your child receives, even if they aren't on the required list from your school.
For check ups, immunizations, and more health advice, bring your child into any of our three locations. We are open 7 Days a Week, from 8am to 8pm.
