National Women's Health Month!
Women's Health:
It is a regular Wednesday morning. You have woken up before everyone else in your family, you have scheduled out the whole day over a quick cup of coffee. You wake your children, dress and feed them and get them ready for school. As you see off your husband for his daily shift, you take the children to school, drop Rufus off at the groomer. Swing by the post office to send off Uncle Earl's birthday present and head to work. No big deal, all in a morning's work.

With May being National Women's Health Month and the week of May 12-18th being National Women's Health Week we wanted to talk about the importance of women's health awareness.

Being a mother, a sister, a daughter or wife is no easy task. Women's bodies handle stress and situations in a different manner than males and therefore are at risk for different health factors. Due to this it is vital that a woman gets regular screenings for hearth, bone, breast, reproductive and  colorectal health.

To prevent disease such as diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke and others it is crucial to follow a regular active regiment of walking and exercise. Eating a well-balanced diet is also a major factor in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and so is cutting out smoking or excessive alcohol use.

To allow your body to keep up with your daily lifestyle allow yourself to relax and have a good nights sleep. This is a key factor in minimizing stress related issues and keeping your body and immune system flourishing.

The Women's Resource Center of Manatee County is a non-profit organization that provides women with the help they need to jump start their career, professional and personal life. The WRC is usually visited by 30-40 women in a week from all different paths in life. By providing computer training classes, a "career closet" and just a supportive and helping hand women are able to gain the confidence they need to follow their dreams.

How you can help:
-Client Services: Greet visitors, answer phones and other administrative duties.
-Career Closet: Sort out and arrange donations and keep the closet space organized.
-Donate: Donate money, copy paper, coffee, tissues and more.
-Computer Instructors: Teach beginners classes, two hours a week.
