Dear Students,

As we find ourselves already in December, we face another year coming to a close. This has been an extraordinarily busy and exciting semester for GIS, having held our largest conference yet, chartered three new chapters (with several more in the pipeline!), participated in our first ever #GivingTuesday, and brought some wonderful new talent to the Grand Chapter Board of Directors and Executive Committee. #GammaIS truly a remarkable network of individuals - from students and faculty to senior industry executives - committed to helping you succeed. This month we feature several upcoming opportunities and deadlines that should not be missed!

We are poised to sustain this tremendous momentum and growth as we enter our 50th Anniversary year in 2015, and we continue to develop and deliver valuable programming to you, the future of insurance industry. December graduates, don't forget to fill out the Alumni Update Form so we can stay connected!

We wish you all a happy and healthy holiday season.

Fraternally yours,

Noelle Codispoti, ARM
Executive Director, Gamma Iota Sigma

The second installment of the 2014-15 GIS Webinar SeriesEye of the Storm: A Day in the Life of ERM, will take place this Wednesday, December 10 at 3:00pm EST. Join us for a session that will explore risk management and how it relates to the insurance industry. Using real examples, learn about a day in the life of professionals who work across a risk organization. Register here!

Presented by Jenny Comerford, who currently serves as Director of Strategy and Communication in The Hartford's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) organization. She also manages the company's Risk Leadership Development Program, a challenging rotational program designed for high-potential recent college graduates. Over the past six years, she has held various roles of increasing responsibility across the company's ERM and investment groups. Jenny graduated from the University of Connecticut and received her MBA in 2012 from the University of Hartford. In her spare time, Jenny serves on the board of directors of Operation Fuel, a statewide nonprofit organization committed to providing emergency energy assistance for residents in need, and as a member of the Hartford Marathon Foundation's Collar Crew. She volunteers with numerous other charitable organizations, including the United Way, Foodshare, and Junior Achievement. Jenny was recognized as a Hartford Business Journal 40 Under 40 winner in 2012 and served as a judge for the 2013 awards. She was also nominated for the United Way Emerging Leader Society's Community Rock Star award in 2014.
