Chapter News: Upsilon
Reactivating After 30 Years! The Upsilon Chapter of GIS at Ferris State University reactivated February 16, 2013, after over 30 years! The ceremony was held on campus at the FLITE library, with 40 friends, family, faculty and Gamma Iota Sigma representatives in attendance. Josh Hart presided over the ceremony as the Alumni Representative of the Grand Chapter with the help of James Heuker (Student Representative to the Grand Chapter and President of the Alpha Alpha Chapter at Olivet), Dr. Tom Miles (Advisor to the Nu Chapter at Central Michigan) and David McClendon (Advisor to the Upsilon Chapter). The Upsilon Chapter's original charter was returned to the campus of Ferris State, where it will proudly be displayed for many years to come. Seven new members of the Upsilon Chapter were initiated at the event. "The decision to reactivate was an obvious one," said Michelle Frahm, President of the Upsilon Chapter. "After attending the International Conference in October and seeing all of the benefits a chapter of GIS could bring to Ferris State, we knew we had to reactive the Upsilon Chapter." |
