Heritage Day

The Northwest Franklin County Historical Society Heritage Day is slated for Saturday, October 12th from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Historical Village at Weaver Park. Tour eleven authentic historic buildings and museum with docents in period costumes, games, live music, food, bake sale, and demonstrations (basket weaving, blacksmith, weaving and more).

Be sure to check your mailbox this week for the next issue of Discover Hilliard. The post office will deliver the magazine Wednesday through Friday of this week to households in the 43026 zip code. The magazine is filled with photos and information about the community of Hilliard.
 
Become involved by volunteering at one of the great organizations located in Hilliard and featured in the magazine.

Summer went by too fast and it is hard to believe the kids are back in school. Fall is the perfect time to enjoy events and the parks in Hilliard. Be sure to invite your friends and family to explore Hilliard with you.

Art Fair   

The Hilliard Arts Council is working in partnership with Old Hilliardfest and sponsoring an Art Fair as part of the event. The Art Fair location has moved this year to Center Street and runs from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In addition, the Hilliard Arts Council will feature live music at the pavilion on Norwich and Columbia at 7:00 p.m. featuring the Columbus Community Orchestra.

Friday Night Lights 

Details for the fifth annual Friday Night Lights slated for Friday, September 13th in downtown Hilliard for high school students from all three high schools were not available at the time of publishing. For details, go to www.oldhilliardfest.org. 

Old Hilliardfest 

The 28th annual Old Hilliardfest will take place on Saturday, September 14, 2013 and feature an Art Fair, Street Fair, live music on three stages, kids activities and plenty of food and beverages from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. An "After Hours" party with food and music featuring Flannel Shark at 6:30 p.m., Hellroys at 8:00 p.m. and Shadows and Light at 9:30 p.m. will be held on Main Street. Please note the location of the festival has been moved. All activities will take place on Center Street between the Makoy Center and Main Street and Main Street from Center to Norwich.

 

This is a favorite event for a number of Hilliard residents who call it a "Homecoming".

9/11 First Responders Memorial Ceremony 

Join the Hilliard Police Department on Wednesday, September 11th at 7:00 p.m. at First Responders Park at the corner of Main and Center Street for a Memorial Ceremony.  

Community Steak Fry 

The Hilliard Veterans of Foreign Wars is sponsoring a community steak fry on Friday, September 13th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. 2436 Walcutt Road. 

Fall Dance 

Doychef Vocal Jam Fall Dance is slated for Friday, September 13th from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. (doors open at 7:00 p.m.) at the Makoy Center, 5462 Center Street. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door however some dances sell out. 

Tidd Family Fishing Derby

The Tidd Family Fishing Derby has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 22nd from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Roger Reynolds Municipal Park, 3800 Veterans Memorial Drive. For more details go to www.hilliardohio.gov.

Fall Festival

The City of Hilliard Fall Festival is slated for Sunday, September 23rd from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Roger Reynolds Municipal Park, 3800 Veterans Memorial Drive. For more details go to www.hilliardohio.gov. Please note the date has changed from October.

Krusade 4 Kids

A 5K Run/Walk or 1 mile Family Fun Run is slated for Saturday, September 28th at Homestead Park off Cosgray Road. Festivities begin at 8:30 a.m. For more information or to register go to www.katelynskrusade.org.

A Blooming Celebration

Are you looking for something to do for the next part of your life since the kids have left home? Explore your opportunities by attending A Blooming Celebration on Saturday, September 28th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or Sunday, September 29th from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Makoy Center, 5462 Center Street. Discount coupons will be available at the Destination Hilliard booth at Old Hilliardfest.
