Important W-2
note for employees
Employees who may have moved, or are new to the district, need to verify that the LISD Payroll Office has your correct address information in their system. Employees can check this by logging into the TEAMS Employee Service Center
If the address information is not correct, an Address Change form will need to be submitted.  The forms are available on the Human Resources Intranet page
Employees may also make the change in person by visiting the Payroll Office or the Human Resources Office.
Correct address information is very important this time of year to make sure that W2s are mailed to the correct address.
Employee Perks highlights
This week's "Employee Perks" highlighted offer is from the world famous Harlem Globetrotters.
The Globetrotters will be visiting Lubbock on Friday, February 1 and are offering Lubbock ISD employees special pricing for the event. Check out the Entertainment link on the Intranet Employee Perks Web page.
Employees may be asked to show their picture ID badge as proof of employment. Additionally, be sure to read the E-Reporter each week to find out about new offers.

Two new elementary campuses named
The Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees announced the names for the two new elementary schools being constructed with funding from the 2010 Bond. In announcing their choices, board members voiced a desire to name the buildings after community members no longer living, but whose contributions to education are recognized by their contemporaries in the community.
Joan Y Ervin
Currently under construction is a new school which will consolidate the existing Wheatley and Iles Elementary Schools. It will be the "Joan Y. Ervin Elementary School," named after the first African-American elected to public office in Lubbock. Ervin, a passionate advocate for public education, served on the LISD Board of Trustees from 1970 - 1978. She was also the first African-American woman hired by IBM in Lubbock, where she worked as a service representative.
Jayne Ann Miller
Construction will begin in the summer of 2013 on a new building on the current site of Murfee Elementary, which will consolidate the existing Haynes and Murfee Elementary Schools into a new building. The new school will be the "Jayne Ann Miller Elementary School," named after the former Lubbock ISD teacher, community volunteer and wife of former Lubbock mayor David Miller.  Miller, who passed away in the fall of 2012, taught special education at Wheatley Elementary and was a homebound teacher for students with special needs. She served as president of the Waters Elementary, Evans Junior High and Monterey High School PTA programs. Miller was an active community volunteer with numerous civic organizations, and she was a recipient of a Life Membership in the Texas State PTA, in recognition of her many years of PTA service.
Alderson
The former Alderson Middle School, which is being remodeled to serve as an elementary school, will consolidate the current Bozeman and Parkway Elementary Schools in the fall of 2013. The renovated building will now be "Alderson Elementary School." The school was originally named after W. E. Alderson, a car dealer and member of the Board of Trustees from 1939 - 1946. The Alderson family is still active in the community, operating car dealerships and providing leadership in many community organizations.
Principals named for new elementary campuses
Principals for three consolidated campuses were announced at the board meeting on Thursday, January 10. Superintendent Karen Garza said, "Our primary goal is to ensure that these transitions are positive for our students, faculty and parents. So, we felt it best to identify the leadership now, so that they can be very involved in all aspects of the transition."
Margaret Randle
Margaret Randle

The new principal at Joan Y. Ervin Elementary will be Margaret Randle, currently the principal at Wheatley Elementary. Randle will continue in her duties at Wheatley Elementary while supporting the transition to the new campus, which will open in the fall of 2013.

The new principal at Jayne Ann Miller Elementary will be Kevin Booe,

Zumwalt named Outstanding Early ChildhoodTeacher for 2012
Sharon Zumwalt
Sharon Zumwalt, Della Frye
Each year, the Early Learning Centers of Lubbock request nominations for four early childhood awards.  One of the awards is the Early Childhood  Teacher of the Year.  LISD Director of Early Childhood Della Frye was notified just before the holiday break that Lubbock ISD had a winner.  "I was thrilled to receive a note from the Executive Director of the ELC, Joanne Cotter, naming Sharon Zumwalt of Roscoe Wilson Elementary as the Early Childhood Teacher of the Year," Frye said.
Zumwalt was nominated for the honor by one of her parents.
Hardwick nurse named Outstanding Foster Parent of 2012
Andrea Gallardo, Hardwick ES nurse, and her husband Ruben were recently honored by the Children's Home of Lubbock as the Outstanding Foster Family of 2012. Over the course of the past year Andrea and Ruben have opened their home to eight children. Four of the children were moved to adoptive homes and two returned to their birth parents. Two children are still living with them. That placement was made over the Christmas holidays because Andrea and Ruben did not want the kids to spend the holidays in an emergency shelter.

Andrea and Ruben work full time jobs, have three children of their own, and yet find it in their hearts to open their home and their lives to foster children. One of the foster children had to have a serious medical procedure and every member of their family spent time at the hospital with the child. The entire Gallardo family goes above and beyond for their placement children and that is why they are truly deserving of the title of Outstanding Foster Family of 2012. Congratulations on the well-deserved award.

Coronado girls back on top at Caprock
The Coronado High School (CHS) girls basketball team won the FiberMax Caprock Holiday Classic tournament on Saturday, December 29 to finish up 2012 in high style.  The Lady Mustangs devastated Wichita Falls Rider in the large school division championship game at the Rip Griffin Center.  CHS players Bailey Wipff and Lizzy Dimba each scored 17 points helping to propel the Lady Mustangs to a final 76-46 victory.
Last year's disappointing interruption of the Coronado girls eight-year winning streak only made the team more determined to get back in the win column.  Senior Bailey Wipff said, "It's so nice to win it again.  We just wanted to go out strong and finish strong."
