Brenda Nygren, right, family worker at Baby's Space talks with a parent at our June meeting.
Dear Friends,

Thank you for your outpouring of support for my new book "Emotional Readiness. How Early Experience and Mental Health Predict School Success."

I've heard from friends and associates who have read the book and shared positive praise. I also receive a lot of feedback on the book and comments on my blog from parents. While everyone agrees that parents are the most important person in a baby's world, what training do parents really receive for the job at hand?

Supporting parents is an important part of Baby's Space. In June, we hosted a Parent Education meeting. Parents learned about the Baby's Space curriculum their child is experiencing and could sign up for many activities, including group and private play groups, a parent board and parenting Emotional Readiness Cover groups.

In "Emotional Readiness" we outline five factors that contribute to healthy outcomes for parents. These factors are commitment to nurturing and attachment, knowledge of parenting and child development, parent resilience, social connections and support for parents. We focus on offering our parents all of these.

While the hallmark of the Baby's Space program is offering a high-quality experience for the baby and toddler, we also focus on parents, grandparents and primary caregivers to promote healthy and strong family relationships.

We salute you parents!

 Best Regards,

Terrie Rose

Involving the parents was an important goal of the event so that they could share in the learning about the animals the children had been studying this spring. Many parents event took the school bus to school with their child to attend the event!
