Dear Parents,
What a beautiful weekend! I hope you have all had a chance to get out and enjoy it.
Quick reminder Boosterthon pledge money is due now. Please collect any outstanding pledges and get them turned in to be counted.
Happy Sunday
{Uniforms}
Parents and teachers brought the idea of having a school uniform to the Site Based Decision Making Committee in the spring and Mr.Greenberg spoke about the process at our most recent PTO meeting. The school will be sending out a survey to gauge parent interest in moving forward with a Condit Uniform/Dress Code.
During the PTO meeting there was a request that a sample uniform shirt be made so that parents can have a chance to look at something tangible before uniform surveys are sent home. Please stop by the bulletin board in front of the school and take a look at the shirts to get a better feel for what they might look like. The shirts on display have logos, however solid color, non-logo shirts would also be part of the dress code.

condit | Reach for the Stars Campaign
Enrich A Child
Isn't Condit awesome? Well, it is so successful because of the parents' support. With your help, the PTO can provide programs and events that otherwise would not exist, such as:
- Accelerated Readers AR
- Science Box Program and Outdoor Science Lab
- Computer instructional support and ancillary support (library, PE, music, art and computer)
- Odyssey of the mind
- Name that book
- Field Day
- Buses for field trips
- Staff Appreciation
- Student Enrichment
And much more.
Please support Condit. Any amount, no matter how large or small will count toward our efforts to raise money for the benefit of our children.
-
Some companies will match your personal donation, please check with your employer if it applies to you.
-
Some companies encourage their families to volunteer in the community and will pay the school for your volunteered time.
Green envelopes were sent home with your children. Check out the donation level incentives, and carefully consider your donation.
The tiles from last year have been made into benches displayed around the school. We have a wonderful plaque which is displayed on the wall across the office.

condit | Condit Beautification Event
Come out, join the Green Team, and help make Condit more beautiful (before Carnival)!
When: Sunday, October 11th, anytime from 7:30-9:30am. Come for 30min, an hour or two! What exactly: help clean up the entrance to the school. We'll be weeding, cleaning out the beds, planting and mulching, so be ready to get dirty. Why? 1) There's almost no better way to impart ownership than by having the community clean up together. 2) It's a fun, healthy way to interact with kids outdoors. 3) We'll be learning about plants and their benefits. What to bring: Please bring your own gardening gloves, extra rakes/trowels and a water bottle. Perks: Green smoothies available

condit | University Interscholastic League (UIL)
UIL - Next Competition October 10th
Use the code D286FD5316 to join the UIL Living Tree Group and sign up your child to try out for the October 10th Competition.
The University Interscholastic League provides fun academic elementary competitions. Condit Elementary participated for the first time in the 2014-2015 school year and took home the Overall 2nd Place in HISD. We are excited to see what we can do this year. We will be participating in three competitions Saturdays during the year. We are looking to build a strong team of students with involved parents to make this an enjoyable time for all. The commitment level is up to you and your child - you can participate in one event or as many as your grade level allows.
Parents are responsible for preparing their child for the competition. The UIL Coordinator can help to find useful materials, previous test and/or previous judges sheets for reference.
Depending on interest level and number of parent volunteers there may be small groups formed to study the specific materials of the events such as Number Sense, Ready Writing, and Mathmatics.
Contact Deirdre Rozowski via Living Tree for more info.
