Dear Parents,
 Hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Some quick reminders as we head into a very busy upcoming week.
 
Early Dissmissal is Tuesday. Children will be released at 12:30pm. 
 
No School Wednesday as it is a Fall Holiday. 

Boosterthon Fun Run is Thursday. We hope you will all come out and help us cheer on the kids! We are very close to reaching our goal!
 
To commemorate the steel structure going up to form our new state-of-the-art school there is a Beam Signing Event Friday from 4-6pm. Condit parents are invited to sign their names on a beam that will be incorporated into the structure. 
 
Lastly, "The Real Housewives of Bellaire" Sociables Event" is Friday. ALL moms are invited so sign up and spend the evening meeting other great Condit moms.

condit | Boosterthon Fun Run Update
 
Condit parents are the BEST!  Results are in from our first week of pledging and I'm excited to announce that we are very close to reaching our goal of $30,000! As of Saturday night, we have met 81% of the pledges necessary to reach that goal. I hope you will all come out to the Fun Run and help us cheer on the kids!  If pledges get to $30,000, Mr. Greenberg will run with GREEN hair!  If we double that to $60,000, he will run with NO HAIR.

A couple of important reminders:

  • WE NEED A FEW MORE VOLUNTEERS to help teachers count laps on Fun Run day, Thurs, Sept. 24th.  Please email [email protected] if you can help.  Volunteers should meet in the classroom 15 minutes before the run.  Run times are as follows:

8:30-9:30am - PreK, K & 3rd

9:45-10:45am - 1st & 4th

11-12pm - 2nd & 5th


 

  • BE PREPARED It's probably going to be sunny and hot!  Please remember to dress your children accordingly and don't forget sneakers and socks.  Please apply sunscreen if you wish.  Condit Fun Run T-shirts will be given to the students on the day of the Fun Run.  Thanks to our T-shirt sponsors: Judge Kyle Carter, Methodist Primary Care, Southwest News & Bellaire Business Association.  Thanks also to Sam Camero for the cool cat T-shirt logo.
  • REGISTER & PLEDGE at funrun.com / Condit's code 264198.  Collection envelopes will come home with the kids after the Fun Run and reminders will be sent out for collections.  Sponsors can write a check directly to the Condit PTO or pay online at funrun.com.  A single check / payment can be made for multiple children (i.e. siblings).  There is a collection box in the main office.

condit | PAT Meeting Update

Construction of the new Condit Elementary School is progressing very nicely. We are excited to see the steel structure forming what is soon to be our new state-of-the-art school! To commemorate this important phase and give our students, parents, teachers, faculty and community a way to be part of this process, we are organizing a BEAM SIGNING. During a beam signing, a steel beam is selected and painted white onto which people can autograph for years to come. Principal Dan Greenberg saw this done successfully at Grady Middle School and we thought it would be fun for us to do as well. [See Chronicle article for Pictures of Grady's Beam Signing]
 
As Condit parents, you are invited to come to the Beam Signing and sign your name with a Sharpie. [NOTE---The children will have already signed their names earlier during the school day.] 

Date: Friday, September 25
Time frame: 4:00 - 6:00 pm (you can come anytime within this time slot---should only take 5 minutes!)
Location: A special entrance to the construction site will be opened for this event. The beam will be just inside the gate located along S. Third Street near the intersection of Laurel and S. Third. 

(Note- Please be mindful of parking in this area as parking restrictions are posted and driveways should remain unblocked).

After all the signing is complete, the beam will be incorporated into the structure (not exposed, but part of the structure).
We are requesting the beam be placed in the area which connects the administration area and the learning commons---right where it opens up.
 
We sincerely appreciate all you do for Condit Elementary and hope to see you on Sept. 25.

condit | University Interscholastic League (UIL)

UIL - Next Competition October 10th
 
Use the code D286FD5316 to join the UIL Living Tree Group and sign up your child to try out for the October 10th Competition. 
 
The University Interscholastic League provides fun academic elementary competitions. Condit Elementary participated for the first time in the 2014-2015 school year and took home the Overall 2nd Place in HISD. We are excited to see what we can do this year. We will be participating in three competitions Saturdays during the year. We are looking to build a strong team of students with involved parents to make this an enjoyable time for all. The commitment level is up to you and your child - you can participate in one event or as many as your grade level allows.

Parents are responsible for preparing their child for the competition. The UIL Coordinator can help to find useful materials, previous test and/or previous judges sheets for reference.

Depending on interest level and number of parent volunteers there may be small groups formed to study the specific materials of the events such as Number Sense, Ready Writing, and Mathmatics.
