The delegation included school board members, state-office administrators, complex-area administrators, principals, teachers, parent advocates, union representatives, and members of the Institute's board. The purpose of the trip was to learn about other public school systems that have changed or tried to change their organizational structures. Now that the members of the delegation are home, they are ready to share their thoughts with their peers and others, including the community.

HE'E News
SPECIAL WEBINAR Family Engagement Community of Practice "Engaging Families of Middle and High School Students!" Thursday, November 13, 2015 | 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. EST
This is a topic that many teachers and after school programs struggle with so there may be some jewels of information here.
Parent and family engagement drops off significantly during students' middle and high school years. One of the main reasons is that engaging families looks very different during middle and high school than it does in elementary school. What does that mean for Grantees who are eager to engage this often sought after parent population? You are invited to join the conversation as Charleen Heard, Office of Engagement, Boston Public Schools shares her expertise in collaborating and partnering with families of middle and high school students. You will also have an opportunity to hear strategies from 21st CCLC and other OST program staff about the fantastic work they are doing to engage and sustain middle and high school family engagement.
FREE NATIONAL WEBINAR "Engaging Families of English Learners," Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 2-3:30 PM EST
