HE'E welcomes a presentation by The Hope Street Group on their State Teacher Fellows Program.
Hope Street Group is a national non-profit organization committed to strengthening the foundation of our economy through reforms in education, specifically through focusing on teacher effectiveness. In partnership with the DOE and the Hawaii State Teachers Association (HSTA), Hope Street Group has launched its State Teacher Fellows Program in Hawaii. Seventeen educators from across the state were selected from a competitive pool of applicants to be chosen as State Teacher Fellows. The fellows will gather data and collect teacher perceptions and potential solutions to issues educators face in implementing the Common Core State Standards. For a description of the program, please see the link here.
We will also have an update from Good Beginnings Alliance on the Preschool Constitutional Amendment. For background information on the Preschool Constitutional Amendment, please click here for A Short Voter's Guide to the Proposed Constitutional Amendment for Early Education Programs, a policy paper by the Hawaii Educational Policy Center (HEPC). A link to the policy paper on the HEPC website is here.
If you have not already done so, please RSVP to cheri@heecoalition.org if you are able to attend. We look forward to seeing you at the meeting!
