Planning Meeting: Tuesday, June 10, 2014, 9:00-11:00am at The Learning Coalition, 841 Bishop Street. #301.
At the May 13, 2014 HE'E Planning Meeting, after reviewing the results of the legislative session in which only a few education bills passed, the group suggested that the Coalition focus on a top priority issue, which could result in concrete action. This could mean policy advocacy or pushing for legislation on a particular issue. The group suggested that we ask the Coalition members to recommend prospective issues and then take a poll to see what issue would have the most support. At the last meeting (see meeting notes here), Planning Group participants offered three items to consider. These issues are already being followed by organizations whose names are in parentheses. Information about topics can be found when clicking on the heading which are links.
1. Safe Routes to School (Parents for Public School Hawaii)
2. Breakfast After the Bell (Hawaii Appleseed Center for Law and Economic Justice)
3. Statewide Afterschool Network (Kaho'omiki)
We have not receive additional responses from members at present but we will continue the discussion at the June 10 Planning Meeting.
