Aloha HE'E Member and Participants,

Thank you for your continued support. We wanted to give a brief update on where we are in the legislative session. In addition, we received a request by a HE'E participant to post an upcoming event. Please feel free to let us know if you would like to share events or announcements.

Legislative News

Last week Friday was the deadline for "First Decking, " the deadline by which a bill must be submitted, i.e., "decked," in its final form to be considered for passage on third reading by its originating house. Thursday, March 6, 2014, is the deadline for the "First Crossover," the deadline by which a final vote must be taken in the bill's originating house to pass the bill on third reading, thus enabling it to cross over to the non- originating house for consideration.  The exceptions are the budget bills. The House budget bill HB1700's cross over deadline is Wednesday, March 12, 2014.  A hearing is  set for Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 2:00 pm in Conference Room 308.  See hearing notice here.  The Coalition will be submitting testimony in support of the Department of Education's Supplemental Budget Request for 2014-2015.  Please see testimony here
