Relating to Education

  • Representative Justin Woodson is drafting a bill relating to education with two objectives:

(1) Establish a pilot project to assist students in achieving annual goals under the common core state

standards; and

(2) Develop a plan to provide web-based data and information for each public school aimed at improving

student outcomes.

We will continue to track and review these ideas and inform members if new information becomes available. If members have any issue they would like to track, please send ideas to cheri@heecoallition.org. HE'E staff will be sending weekly updates on bills members in which members have expressed interest in during the legislative session.

HE'E may send testimony as a Coalition to support/oppose bills if voting members have a consensus (75%) to do so.  HE'E may also provide comments to bills, both pros and cons, so that policy makers and legislators may hear voices from the community.  We also encourage members to submit testimony on their own for issues the feel strongly about, as well as attend hearings.
